I'll give credit to apple for this--I got an itunes gift card for xmas, and added it to my account. They sent me emails reminding me I had credit on itunes, unlike most places that hope you'll never redeem your gift cards.
And they seem to actually listen. One of the problems with the iPhone was that if you had it on overseas, you'd get charged huge amounts for the automatic data transfers it does. People complained, so they sent an iTunes push enabling you to turn it off. Not that big a deal, but they fix the things they fuck up quickly and they listen to their customers.

Plus, with the latest update, they improved the phone's software. You don't have to buy another version of the phone (yet) to get the improvements. That always pissed me off with the other phones I bought.

Plus the WiFi iTunes is just cool.

I think I want one of those new iTouch thingies just because it's got built in wifi and it's cool.

Horror Flicks

October really gets me in the mood for this stuff. I already have all the Halloween movies, The Shining, The Omen and The Exorcist. Can anyone rec a good scary movie? Or something fucked up and apocalyptic or something. I liked 28 Days, 28 Weeks, Children of Men and hate the slasher flicks with all the new 20 something actors/actresses. Am hitting the video store tonight. And stopping to get Korean food. And now, because of you all, sweets from Payard.

Have you seen the movie with John Cusack that came out a few months ago? I can't remember the title but it takes place in a hotel room and the title is the number of the hotel room. I really liked it -- it was scary without being slasher-y and I think he did a good job. Samuel L. Jackson is also in it (of course, isn't he in everything) and I loved his performance too.

ETA: The name of the movie is 1408. Not sure if it's out on video yet.

If the feds can get Marion Jones for lying about flaxseed oil, why not Bonds?*

*And why is there any dispute about whether Bonds juiced? He admitted to a grand jury taking a substance described as flaxseed oil that we all know was steroids. The only thing he can say is that he didn't knowingly take steroids. But he still was juiced.

Damn. I didn't know I'd left that in Ireland.

No kidding. The hopes and dreams of the board rest on her shoulders. And a marathon is never a cake walk, even for previous Boston qualifiers. Worse is that we are experiencing an unseasonably hot spell. Even the toughest of competitors can crack under those conditions.

But I'm sure everything will be fine. ABBA, I'll be praying for you. And by that I mean that I will think briefly about you while high at some point this weekend. I realize that this is ironic in a number of ways, but it is as close as I get to praying.

Dang! I tried to get out to see that in the movies but missed it. I keep telling the video guy about a movie with a number in it and he keeps trying to rent me "The Number 23". Thanks for reminding me of the name. I will check if it's out now on video. Saw Apocalypto the other night. Decent flick. Hot scantilly clothed swarthy Mayan dude.

I didn't like The Number 23. It was more of a psychological thriller than a "scary movie" and had a tired and overdone premise. Not to mention a ton of internal and external inconsistencies. Skip it if you haven't already seen it.

Not my genre AT ALL, but I've heard good things about either the first or second Final Destination movie. If it were my genre AT ALL I probably would have made some effort to remember which one is supposed to be good. Hepful.*

*Even more hepful now that I've actually read your post and figured out that you say you don't like those ones. Total winner, I am.

Except for Verizon is coming out with basically the same phone as the IPhone for the same price, but it also has a real qwerty keyboard too. http://www.news.com/2300-1039_3-6211346-1.html

You can edit the calendar on the phone. It's very easy.

They also added a custom ringtone feature that allows you to use certain songs (that I assume they have contracts for) from iTunes. You can make the ring any length up to 30 seconds. The cool thing is, you can go through your current songs and see which ones are set up for ringtones, so if you already own it, you don't have to re-buy it (although, it costs $1 to create a ringtone out of a song).
