To be fair, you'd have to blame the french for that one--they're broke dick.
BTW, last time I flew usair, they gave the headphones away for free.

Has anyone bought a GPS for car use recently? I'm getting ready to buy one and I don't want to do the research. I want to use it in my car and be able to take it from car to car.

I got the Tom Tom 700. I really like it. There's also a cheaper model if you don't want the bluetooth access.

I've previously expressed satisfaction with my RoadMate 700. On my rec a coworker got the new model, and he seems similarly satisfied. Pricey, but includes all USA maps on an HD. That is more key than features.

I'm sorry, no one listens to advice from vampires who won't give you the time of day during the day.

I got the headphones for free this time as well. I simply wanted to use my Shure's instead.

How worth it is a Treo?
Okay, so I have an old Palm Vx, and a stupid Nokia free phone. I've all along been planning on getting a Treo so I can eliminate a piece of hardware from my purse. So this week I've been looking more seriously, and I'm finding that I don't qualify for all the juicy rebates. My question is (and those who have one can help me here): will I like it enough to justify spending $400? I have to pay for it myself, and can't deduct it as a business expense. I'm also thinking I won't get a data plan because I'm not away from my computer enough to justify it.
Am I better off just upgrading my Palm and my phone, for less total $$?
Alternatively, does anyone know a way around the fine print, or a place that sells the 650 for cheap?

If you're out of contract with your carrier, or it's about to expire, you could also call them and ask to speak with someone in the retention department. Do a little research and find an offer for the phone you want with a different carrier and ask them if they can beat it, otherwise you're thinking of changing carriers. Also check www.amazon.com (use the lawtalkers link) and check out other phones there, usually require 1 year committment and a new carrier, but you caN sometimes even make money and get a new phone in the process.

You can get them cheaper on ebay. You can get the Blackberry 7100 for even less. Although, if you aren't going to get a data plan I'm not sure why you'd bother.

For the sheer decrease of stuff in your purse, go for it... I love mine. With 2 toddlers, my and my husband's schedule to keep up with, its nice having everything in one place, regulary backed up the computer. Also, my H spends a lot of time traveling, so having the qwerty based keyboard helps a great deal when I need to text message him etc... I have a 600 but wish I bought the 650 for the bluetooth capabilities. I bought mine on eBay, new, never opened for about $250. I'd get one that is unlocked and not dedicated to a carrier in particular if you are considering changing carriers...

Ipod question
I was given an Ipod car adapter thingy for my birthday, the kind that plays through an FM station whilst plugged into the cigarette lighter. I was told, at the time of the gifting, that various sources claim that the adapter that utilises my car's cassette player is superior, and if I want I can exchange the one for the other.
So, thoughts?

Yes--using the cassette player is likely better. If nothing else, it avoides interference from other radio stations. The best is a direct/auxiliary input, but the tape version is pretty good. I'd upgrade/swap.
