Untrue. I remember that girl with the clapper I ran into in Singapore. I was turned right off.

Of course not. I met them back in the day. Doubt they were from the "hood". They reeked of prep school. But their records kicked ass and songs like "Fuck the Police" are especially appropriate in these times.

OK, if anyone is at all interested, I put the colors I'm sort of thinking of using into a palette (sp?) on the benjamin moore site. Log in as ltlfb, password fringe. it all shows as in one room, but the red would be in the dining area, the yellow in the living room, and the terra-cotta/pumpkin color in the kitchen.
Please tell me if they clash or I otherwise have awful taste.
whoops -- you will need to click on "homeowners" or whatever at the top, and pick "my project" from the drop-down menu. Then log in and the only project i have on there is "my new place." The trim is supposed to be white, not muslin, but I can't figure out how to change it.
ETA I changed the color scheme, so some following comments may seem weird/off if you go to the site . . .

This is the last one, I promise...
(With the glaring exception of Poland, of course.)

I just did a whole makeover in my new apt. and used the "Color Preview" on Benjamin Moore. It's good for an idea, but I really needed to pay the $10 to get one quart of the stuff to test it (the color testers are like only a few tablespoons). Overall, I wished I had picked colors that were a bit darker and for my yellow room I wished I had chosen something more towards the gold side b/c it tends to come out bright yellow. For your cream yellow, I'd get a quart and try it. But I'd also check out something like "Luxurious Gold" (it's under Classic Colors, unlike the Cream Yellow which is in the "Color Preview" collection). You may find that for your living room, you'll want something deeper than the Cream Yellow.
As for your kitchen -- nice bold color you picked. Go for it. Same with your choice for the dining area.
As for trim: I don't know which White you picked but stay away from a light white. I originally had Decorator's White but then switched to "White Dove" (all premixed colors) and am very happy with it. When it's on the trim, it's definitely white but more pleasing to the eye and with your darker colors, you don't want a light light white against it. For the white trim, I like the Semi-Gloss rather than Eggshell or Matte finish. Have a blast. A change in room color, combined with a small investment for some changes in lighting/fixtures makes a huge difference.

Thanks! I was thinking possibly darker in the living room too. It's the largest of the three rooms, and gets by far the most light. At this point, I"m not going thru the hell of repainting the trim, so it will stay the white it is. I'll be getting quarts or smaller samples and trying them out -- I just wanted to get some kind of idea of how the colors would look juxtaposed. It's hard to tell when you have teeny patches.

Light Fixtures
I'm seeing a few posts on here about light fixtures and other things. A friend came to town and commented on how awful they were in my place. I guess b/c I rent I felt I wasn't allowed to touch anything (maybe I'm not). A simple thing like replacing the hideous fake bamboo light switch and electrical outlets, to clean white ones did wonders. As did simply unscrewing the cabinet knobs which were faded flowers and replacing them with new ones which are a modern brushed brass. All Home Dept stuff. Or there are a billion knob places on the Internet (heh heh she said knob). And it was all real cheap. The only thing I did invest in (with landlord approval and a minor contribution) was have my electrician friend install two round "high hats" in the kitchen area (which I kept calling "high boys" which I guess means I'm a sublimal drunk). I kept trying to buy a new "flush to the wall" fixture from Home Dept and was returning them when they were so hideous and the High Hat gives a soft light and is the least obnoxious of all. I heart my kitchen now.

Mostly, I just want to smell like PLF.
I'm running low on my current supply and I'm looking to change scents. (Save it!) My current formal scent is Hanae Mori ("Be different with this unforgettable fragrance") and my everyday one is Gendarme ("Aggressively masculine yet refreshingly gentle").
I like having an everyday scent that just smells like expensive soap, which is what I think led 8track {sniff} to recommend Gendarme, with which I and others around me have been happy. Anyone care to dictate how an anonymous stranger smells by naming a new favorite as a replacement? Suggestions by notoriously bangable Fbers will be given more credibility.

With that criteria, I'm sure you'll take my suggestions as gospel.
My recommendation is a brand rather than a specific scent. Creed Perfumes are my favorite and the best I've come across. I also recommend them to everyone because I am allergic to most perfumes but not Creed because they use mostly natural essences, not synthetic ones (and this is why they cost an arm and a leg but you make the big bucks and can afford it!).
You might like their Silver Rain Water ("fresh with scents of green tea & black currants"). I wear Citrus Bigarrade ("verbena, lavender, Sicilian mandarine, citrus").
No matter what you get, a plea from the perfume allergic folks: no one more than arms-length distance from you should be able to smell your perfume at all!

Though I prefer the smell of plain soap on a man (as I said to the last Metrosexual FB Man looking for a fragrance change) at least you are looking for a cologne that smells like soap. There is a cologne made by Banana Republic called "M" that smells a bit like soap.

Concur with Diane Keaton that a man should mostly just smell like a man. Still, Irish Spring smells like my first love. Brut reminds me of my college boyfriend. And Drakkar Noir and cigarettes smells like a certain drummer I used to know. So I can see why you might want to smell like something.
That said, I recommend the following:
Aqua Moto: I love Comptoir Sud Pacifique, and wear one of their perfumes myself. This one has lilies in it, which the 2 you told us you wear also have.
Eau de Sud: Because one of the sexiest European men I ever met wore this, and in my own imagination, I picture you a sexy European type. Smells like what Humphrey Bogart must have smelled like in Casablanca.
and lastly, my favorite of the three, Clean: Which smells pretty much like what a guy should smell like when he's just out of the shower.
