Am I the only one who has the possibility of death? What the fuck? It must be that "smuggling drugs internationally" thing. It was only Canada. Bastards.

of course, rather than turning me over to the police my mom just paid for the candy and took care of the punishment herself.

mnd, you are probably my best friend from grade school.
You were lucky. My mom made me return to the store, 'fess my sins and apologize to the owner. Oh the horror.

I'm sure this makes me more of a geek, but I did a little fiddling and apparently the questions aren't at all weighted. I did this by checking (in addition to all my other answers) "waited 2+ hours in line for a movie," then switching that with "waited 12+ hours in line for a movie," which of course should get more weight, right? and the scores were the same.
Maybe they figure you wouldn't check the 12 box without checking the 2 box, but it seems obvious that some things (like going to band camp or working as a theater techie or playing D&D every waking moment) are geekier than going to a museum for fun.
Anyway, there's no way I buy the test as accurate, because the SFC only scored 21%, and I can get my score that high just by adding "I know my Jedi name" and "I can think of other things that should get me points on this test." And he's a C++ programmer, for heaven's sake!

R.S.V.P. question
Is everyone seeing a rising tide of rudeness vis-a-vis responses to social invitations? Just yesterday, two couples of otherwise conscientous friends finally responded (by phone) to invitations we mailed three weeks ago. (One declined, I think because they always wait until the last possible moment to get better offers, and finally came up with one; the other accepted.) We like these people just fine, but criminy. It's getting tough to take. I should note that both couples had been subjected to voicemails subtly asking for replies; we had written both off when the calls weren't returned for a week.
I originally thought it was because the people out West worth having at parties can tend toward the unrefined and flaky, but is it true elsewhere, too?
Warning: You can't hear the "We assumed because you hadn't heard from us . . . " response and the "Of course, you knew we wouldn't miss it for the world" response in the same day without your head exploding.

Classic federal judge. "The worst I have ever seen"? Jesus, the average state court judge has seen five necrophiliac child dismemberment murders before lunchtime. Federal judges see one forcible or violent crime every three years and they go nuts with the sentencing because it's always more appalling than a visa violation or felon-in-possession.
Maybe one of the former clerks on the board can tell me whether they ever met a federal judge who had a fucking clue how ugly a real crime can really be.
