Okay, I'm sure the watch collectors will turn their noses at this suggestion, but darn it, I think this is a good choice under the situation.
I have some nice "fancy" watches that were given to me as gifts, but frankly, I prefer something simple and stainless steel. I can't bring myself to wear the fancy watches unless it's a special formal occasion, and all the while, I'm afraid of losing it or damaging it. The problem, I find, is that the more expensive it is, the less I want to wear it, and the less useful it is. Obviously, that's just my hangup.

The Swiss Army stuff lasts a long time and runs well. They're also nice and heavy. They feel substantial on the wrist.
Nothing is uglier than a gold and stainless steel mix. Awful.
Why is a simple Cartier tank so much goddamn money? I've loved that watch since I saw it, but I fear I'll never have one.

Ohmigod! Aren't they just? I have one that has hands and numbers and everything. It's like we're the same person! I bet mine tells time better than yours (tee hee). Watches make us cool.

Watches are for people with too much money to spend. Like Cornhole.
Personally, my "watch" is my cellphone.

There you go. Everyone who ever commented on the collective subpar driving abilities in the asian population is a klan member. You are caricture of a politically correct liberal. And you offend those who really are victims of the klan.

Heck, so long as he goes to a National League team, who cares about losing the guy who has been the big-game pitcher for the Yanks over the last several years?
Here's a realistic article about the Pettite thing. http://www.nytimes.com/2003/12/12/sp...l?pagewanted=1
*Yes, Kevin Brown is a great pitcher. When he's healthy.
|
Ummmm...you can look at it as we lost Pettitte for Brown or you can look at the changes in our pitching staff overall. Brown for Clemens. Vasquez for Pettitte. And Kevin Brown is a righty, not a lefty.
And who cares if Brown is old and Pettitte is young? Clemens pitched pretty well last year. So did Brown. With either pitcher, the deal would be 2-3 years. What's relevant is how they perform during the term of their contract, not afterwards. All this talk about their age doesn't mean much. If Brown puts up better numbers over the next few years than Pettitte (and I'm confident this will happen, especially in the win column -- Houston doesn't have the same run support as the Yankees or the cavernous left field, either) will we have to hear about the difference in the two players' age?
And that article was so poor, I don't know why you would admit to reading it. If you think (like the author of that article seems to) that the Yankees should pack it in and go home next year because boston has Schilling and Pedro, you're crazy. The simple fact is, our whole pitching staff (should we get Brown) has improved. Our rotation would be Mussina, Brown, Vasquez, Contreras, Lieber/Wells/whatever. Brown's ERA last year was 2 point something. If he drops to 3 point something, he'll have a shot at as many wins as Pettitte (who will NOT -- you heard it here first -- be anywhere near as good as everyone thinks he'll be in Houston). Our bullpen will be stocked with Flash Gordon, Heredia, Quantrill and Rivera (and we may keep Karsay, who knows). If we sign Vlad, I will be very happy with our team. If we sign Sheff, I won't be as happy, but I'll be very confident.
Boston's staff has improved in a bigger way in relation to what they had this year, especially if they steal Oakland's closer. But, break down the series between the Yankees and Sox. Pedro lost both his starts (or was winless) and Wakefield did all the heavy lifting (except for the last pitch). While Schilling is clearly better than Wakefield, what's the real impact? Wakefield won all his starts against us. Schilling may win all of his. Last year, Boston lost even though Wakefield pitched his ass off. If I told you at the beginning of the season that Wakefield would win all his starts against us in the Championship Series, you would have laughed in my face if I told you we would still win. So, settle down, Beavis. There's a lot of baseball to be played.

never mind. not worth it.
Edited to add, that my comment to such a stupid statement was not worth it. Not that people who are victimized by the klan aren't worth it.
Face it, you're a racist and you make racist statements.

In the sense that Mick's always been repulsive, and remains repulsive, I suppose he's held about steady over time.
Never let it be said that I lack mercy.

I always told my female siblings that if they ever needed a sudden "loan", just call and ask and don't explain and I won't ask. I wonder if it would be irresponsible to say the same thing to my daughter?

Food & Fat

I have had more bistro style French food than the 4 star variety, but not all French food is that fatty or difficult to make. Rich desserts? A special meal out isn't complete without the kind of dessert (preferably chocolate) you wouldn't make at home. And as for fat, there is nothing like butter for cooking and baking. Don't waste your calories on margarine. Odd thing about French food, French people aren't the ones who are fat and have heart disease -- unless they spend their time at McD's eating Le Big Mac or a Royale with cheese.
Fu(it's cold here; must go on a weekend baking spree)gee
