How to build a third party

See my above post. I quoted Ty, who found an article about how Michigan GOPers added 43000 signatures to Nader's petition, which in the face of Nader's ineptitude was the only thing getting him on the ballot.
So, Hank, it seems you're now free to cast aside your reserved support for Bush, and show your true, heretofore hidden desires with a passionate vote for Ralph.
It's analogous to coming out of the closet, only here you'll end up being even more marginalized for your efforts.

See, that's the self-defeatist rhetoric that impedes the development of third parties in this country.
Knowing what we know about you, I think you should follow your heart and vote for Nader.

where's the bounce?
Greetings fellow politicos! First-time poster, short time lurker, registered independent.
Interesting news of the day as I am listening to the FOXNews internet simulcast, Carl Cameron on Fox News is reporting breaking news that the latest WaPo pres poll that is set to come out is showing that "if there was a bounce from the convention for Kerry, it was indeed one of the smallest bounces in history."
Prediction: Kerry will join fellow Massholes, Dukakis and TK as presidential aspirant losers. The only real questions at this point is will he get more states than Dukakis did in 88 and will it be Edwards or Hillary in '08?

I am voting for Bush, although in this state, I doubt it will matter. I hope many liberal nut jobs will vote for him. Especially in swing states.
Curious as to what you think you know about me?

If Nader is inept, it strikes me you guys are wasting lots of $$ keeping him off ballots.
cf We let Pat B. on and it might have won us Fla.

A GWB supporter. For purposes of the joke, that's all I really needed to know.

I'm not talking about his ability to draw away some voters. In an election with only about 25 undecideds, even one is too many.
The ineptitude I'm talking about is the organizational capabilities of getting on the ballot in the first place. See, e.g., Anthony Williams' incompetence in getting onto the DC Mayoral ballot (as an incumbent, no less). If they lack the skills to get on the ballot in the first place, it does not speak well for their ability to govern at all.
Professional politicians, whatever their policy views, should at a minimum be able to do that.

I'm a independent who voted for Nader last time as a protest. This time I will be voting for W based on defense issues and the improvement in the economy.

You clearly don't get Ralphie. He is not in it to win. He knows he won't win.

I get it.
the point is that even if he can't win and be a president, playing one on TV effectively is something of a prerequisite to being taken seriously by anyone. It's one of the few things that could separate him from, say, nutjobs ranting about politics on an Internet chatboard.

No it isn't. Take Al Sharpton or Dennis Kucinich. They are taken seriously by the Dems. Can you honestly tell me you aren't embarassed that Al Sharpton is allowed to speak at your convention?
