but I just said diet tonic water seems sweeter than regular. it's definitely the thin unidimensional sweetness of a diet drink, though, and not the rich multilayered sweetness of sugar.

As my mum used to say, The Kitchen Is Closed. I have nothing further to say on the subject. Sorry, hon.

The more sugar, the more hangover. If you can, drink whatever you're drinking straight, on the rocks. Least possibility of hangover. Oh, the other rule is, the darker it is, the more hungover you'll get. This explains why red wine destroys me the next day.

Lately, its been double Stoli Vanilla rocks. But now that Fall approaches, I must get back to the darker liquors. I'm wondering if it'll be a bourbon or a scotch Fall?

BTW, there is no better beer than those 22 oz Sapporo cans. Sooooo tasty.

Fuck milk chocolate. The dark shit kicks its ass. I love those candy bars that say "70% cocoa". Compliment a coffee perfectly.

Well, Silicon Implants is apparently connected to the GOP.

This just doesn't make sense to me. I have heard that it is the impurities in the alcohol. If sugar increases the severity of the hangover why does it not cause hangovers by itself. If you drink a coke you don't get a hangover. If you drink Vodka you get a hangover. But if mix coke with the vodka you get a bigger handover? I just don't buy it. Whatever is causing the hangovers come from the alcohol, not what you add to it.

Why

Why would someone store a toothpick behind his ear? Because he might suddenly be struck with the need to pick his teeth? And would want to do it with something that has been sitting behind his ear?

I don't know how this works, I don't know why it works... but I know, if the booze has lots of sugar mixed with it, you'll feel worse the next day. Probably has something to do with the amount you'll ingest while boozing...

I'll never have five glasses of coke. But I will easily have five glasses of bourbon and coke (back when I still mixed my liquor). Thats a lot of sugar to put on top of the booze - combined effect of two poisons makes pain of next day much worse.

If you just had five glasses of bourbon (in other words the same amount of bourbon without the Coke) would the hangover be any worse? My experience has been the more you add to the Alcohol the better off you are. The more non-alcoholic liquid you drink and the more you eat the less the alcohol will effect you.

I thought the sugar thing was obvious. Sugar interfers with your sleep. If you have five chocolate chip cookies. its gona fuck with your sleep a little bit. A sugary sleep will be more fitful, and result in you waking up when the sugar goes away. Now I havent done the comparson study on the heavy wine sleep versus vodka soda sleep but I bet you sleep better on the latter. And bad sleep contributes to the hangover.

This is jsut speculaton of course.

I have had five bourbon and cokes more times than I can count. Result is a vicious hangover. I learned a few years back that if I eliminated the coke part of the equation and had five straight bourbons, I had no hangover... or at least much less of a hangover.

You are correct about the eating thing. Eating something will take care of the nausea you'd otherwise feel the following morning.

BTW, why would you want more sugar in your drink? Thats just useless extra liquid you're ingesting. I love beer, but I gave up drinking it to get drunk years ago. You wind up getting bloated and lethargic. If you drink booze as straight as you can, you can drink more, feel better and get a really solid drunk on...
