Horrible. It's especially romantic when someone walking by yells, "hey! that guy's doin' that girl right there!"

Or when some random peddler taps the guy on the shoulder and asks him if he'd like to buy some flowers.
Ah, spring break in Mexico....

Your grandfather was a necessary disciplinary measure.
I love love love cheese fondue. Friends of mine got a fondue pot when they got married (not sure if they registered for it or not) and we made cheese fondue a few times. OMG yummy. Somehow though I got stuck with the bottle of kirsch. Which is in a lot of recipes, strangely enough.
I think chocolate fondue is thinner than the fudge sauce stuff I like to have on strawberries. Not that there's anything wrong with chocolate fondue, but I prefer my strawberry thing. I never like the angelfood cake in choc fondue -- I'm an all-fruit girl. What else gets dipped in choc fondue besides those 2 things?

Exactly. Cancun, where more people fuck on the beach than in their rooms.

Mine was in Mazatlan, but it was pretty much the same scene. I now make it a policy to avoid anywhere that is advertised as a Spring Break destination. If there's a Senor Frog's in the vicinity, I don't want to be there.

Yes. Occasionally. It's a lot of cheese, so it's best used with several guests for an appetizer.
I have not used it for chocolate fondue, however.
eta: And I will not serve shape shifter any.
Also, it's seasonal. It's not needed in the summer here, because I can leave a piece of cheese in a bowl outside and have fondue within a few minutes.

they're a bitch to clean. that's my memory from childhood.

I love fondue, but it seems like the sort of thing you should just let someone else prepare (and clean up after). You live in a big city - there's GOT to be some sort of competent fondue place around, n'est-ce pas?
