Right. They see your silver chocolate squirter and then head straight to your fairy princess bed.

Seriously, though, I'm starting to buy into the Augusten Burroughs bit about straight guys being the new gay guys and vice versa.

Pound cake
Graham crackers
Marshmallows
Brownies
Pretzels
Chocolate chip cookies

(and fruit, as you noted).

I hate angel food cake.

Why, of course, dear. But not for the fondue. Fondue in Gstaad is for the hoi polloi. Sheesh.

If only my real life were as FaBulous as it appears.

I love love love cheese fondue. Friends of mine got a fondue pot when they got married (not sure if they registered for it or not) and we made cheese fondue a few times. OMG yummy. Somehow though I got stuck with the bottle of kirsch. Which is in a lot of recipes, strangely enough.

So you're saying you did it because it was good for me?

Anyway, I'm over that. I just went to Starbucks (actually I went to the Torrefazione on Bush but it's called Cafe Crapi now) and had the most wonderful cookie. Like an Oreo on steroids. 2 chocolate cookies with a huge lump of creamy frosting inside. MMMmmmm.

I went to a fondue place in Florida once where the smoke from the burning oil and/or sterno was so intense and burned our eyes so as to be very unpleasant.

Ultimately, it made you a better board denizen.

So, the hallway smelled really good at lunchtime, and then I went by someone's office and she said she had a goodbye lunch for someone who is leaving their group and it was food from . . . . Versailles. Weird. I am about to try the chicken (cold).

fondue alone is pathetic. Does it even come in small quantities?

No, it's kind of a group thing. Like smoking a hookah. If you make a small quantity, you can't get enough depth to really dip appropriately. Like dunking a cookie into 1" of milk. The math doesn't work.

Ehn. Fuck it. It's fattening and terribly messy. Have spaghetti with a fine chianti instead. And garlic bread. You'll forget all about the fondue.

aon - I thought this was cute.
