But I guarantee you that the strict no peanut policy at my daughter's school was implemented and is maintained because there is one kid whose mouth gets red and a little swollen if he has a peanut.

As well, I am not minimizing the danger of the worried parent quizzing in the informational. I am sure this is a factor in deciding to drop 20 large on a pre K--however, in a large group in a general informational seminar, and she's twitching--is it all about her and her kid?

It's tres tedious.

Watch Mad Men. The chain-smoking, wine-swilling pregnant neighbor, the kids playing with plastic bags, Don telling the neighbor kid arriving at the birthday party "go out back, there should be some peanut butter sandwiches and BB guns" -- it's like a flashback to my youth.

As a rule of thumb, each time you are exposed to the substance, your reaction will be worse and set in quicker than before. That's one of the reasons why folks tend to be so paranoid. You don't really know how many strikes you have until you are out.
Very helpful. Thank you.

He's allergic to soy etc. etc. etc. too, so my sister asks the waiter/waitress to check ingredients in e.g. the breaded chicken breasts used in chicken parmesan. It would be a lot easier if it were just peanuts.

It sucks because we can't go to mexican or mediterranean-y places generally b/c of all the black/garbanzo beans everywhere. Or, we can't go to the faster food places (baja fresh) b/c things are more likely to mix.

But he's a cute kid, and I'd rather have him alive.

Yes. I've also cued up the following:

Because I said so, that's why.
My house, my rules.
Who promised you life would be fair?
You can't always get what you want.
Because I'm an adult and you are a child. That's why.
Look it up.
If your friend jumped off a bridge, would you?
You're not getting up until you finish what's on your plate. (Which inevitably leads to: )
Okay, but you're going to finish this for breakfast or lunch or dinner, tomorrow.
And the ever popular:
We'll see.

eta: Two things. Until recently, I had my daughter fooled into thinking that she had to bring daddy his medicine. She just figured out that I simply wanted another beer.

She doesn't really know what is beer and what isn't. She drinks water almost exclusively and just the other day, she saw a long-neck soda bottle (Izze pink grapefruit) in the fridge and asked if she could have a beer.

I've added "You get what you get and you don't get upset."

This is new in our generation.

Yeah, it's tough to eat out. I read all the fine print on food labels. It's one of the reasons I like Au Bon Pain, they list all the ingredients on their website. Peanuts, soy, and corn are everywhere. I've recently added soy to my list (damn stress). By the time I retire I'll be eating nothing but boiled chicken and rice.

Clothing: The decedent was received wearing two (2) wet suits, one scuba diving mask, one pair of diving gloves, one pair of slippers, one pair of rubber underwear, two (2) ties, five (5) belts, eleven (11) straps.

Personal Effects: One yellow metal ring intact on left ring finger, one dildo.
Seriously, two wetsuits seems like overkill to me.... (there's a Smoking Gun autopsy report that gives a little more detail. [/url] Make that a lot more detail. Ugh.)

I've been meaning to try one of those trendy viruses. I could really use a leave of absence. The "being allergic to everything and the stress and hours are agravating my allergies so here's the doctor's note on why I can't keep working a bazillion hours a week" hasn't worked so far.
I've had two heart attacks. Both worked like a charm. And I got morphine in the ER.

Yes. And the message was, not all cases of death by anaphalaxismosisitis are caused by peanut proximity!

My friends just called it juice. We were a bit sad when their youngest got too old fetch more 'juice', now we have to get up and get our own beers.

My mother really liked "I'm going to count to ten." and "Fair is a four letter word."
