Coltrane used umlauts on Politics, but he copied them in.

Otherwise, I (and Thurgreed, I'm sure) stand by this assessment:
2003:
Mussina, Pettite, Clemens, Wells, Weaver
2004:
Mussina, Vasquez, Brown, Contreres, Lieber.
But for Mussina, we've gotten better at every spot in the rotation. And but for Lieber, we've gotten a lot younger, too.
|
And to think that I refrained from posting a Yankees Schadenfreude Haiku (tm) about Roger yesterday out of sympathy for you people.*
But, come on. This "we have a better rotation now" thing? Do you actually believe that? I will bet you a beer -- no, a bottle of Black Bushmills -- that not one of the "new/2004" pitchers in the above rotations you listed will match the wins of the "old/2003" pitchers. And that includes comparing Mussina 2004 to Mussina 2003. (Yeah, I'm taking a risk with leaving Weaver in there, but I'll stand by it.)
Hey, maybe George can get some revenge on the Astros by signing Mike "I have no idea how those scuffs got on the ball" Scott. Or Nolan Ryan.
* And by "you people," I mean "Yankee fans" in general. Not just slave and TM.

My actual job continues to be more compelling. Purse Junkie, why don't you tell us about some of your recent purse purchases?

So PJ is anti-Christian and you're anti-intellectual.
What is a Christian intellectual to do on these boards?

If it makes you feel any better, people in the midwest farming states never got those kinds of spam.
Too close to home, I think.

If you could have any job (with lack of talent or experience being no bar to success), what would you choose?

First baseman, mid-market major league baseball team. Aw, screw it, make me a starting pitcher. More realistically though (I did it in college), hockey play-by-play announcer.

Hey ya is still hot and rising. Its suckiness makes it more the Will Farrell than the Jim Carrey.

It was played at a $75,000 bat mitzvah* I attended recently. I could not shake it like a Polaroid picture, so instead I shook it like I'm at a bat mitzvah, which comports better with my dance floor skills anyway.
Contrary to expectations, neither Beyonce nor Lucy Liu got on the floor. (Hi str8!)
*I hate to perpetuate stereotypes, but there was a lot more open speculation about what things cost than at any goy event I've ever attended. Of course, the subject is a lot less interesting when your parents dropped over $400 on your First Holy Communion brunch, since much of that was spent on the sheet cake.

Lightbulbs are the universal symbol of coming to a realization. Hence, anti-intellectual. Or, that's what I got out of it. Even though sometimes lightbulbs appear over the tops of dumb people's heads when at 35 they realize that Mom and Dad are filling the stockings at Xmas.
