They also have a division for "Best Liner Notes." I shit you not.

Why bother having an awards ceremony that essentially recognizes album sales, which are their own reward?

That's why we love that band. Not only can they keep it up for a whole set, they did. I would venture that I am among the top 10 most show going people on this board and I have never seen that much passion and energy on stage. It felt, appropriately, like a religious experience.

After I saw them at ACL, I couldn't move from my spot. There were other acts to see, like No MS All Stars playing just up the hill, but I couldn't leave that patch of grass and risk breaking the spell.

Actually the awards show that is based solely on album sales
is the Billboard Music Awards.
If they didn't create special categories
(e.g. Best Rock Act),
Every single award would go to a hip hop act.

Nelly cleaned up the year I went.

Though I would warn
that hearing them play indoors
can be much harder on the ears
than their set at ACL was.
Earplugs next time.

top ten also here
(though not always by choice).

apologies to Andy Rooney for stealing his schtick

The problem with starting to work on a new matter is that you don't have opposing counsel's phone number etched on your brain, and so you may accidentally take their phone calls when you'd rather not do so.

Carry on.

One last comment about grammy, that apology by Justin Timberfake - weak or what. I'm sorry if any of you were offended. Did you take a look around you? Who in the hell in that place was going to be offended. And if your mom was really offended, tell her to cover up her cleavage next time - or get a real date. You're as bad as Clay, taking your mom to award shows.

Sound question, but its logic takes us too far. Self-congratulatory ceremonies are what this time of year is all about in this town, and we can't risk exposing them to the harsh light of objective justifications.

Besides, they also gives us opportunities to view and comment on oddly spaced breasts, so they're not a complete waste.

Ah, yes. I think St. Paul does its Winter Carnival for a slightly different, but related, reason. In the Bay Area, we have the Deuced Phenomenon instead. Something about Mark Twain's coldest winter, I think.

VD

With Valentine's day fast approaching, self-proclaimed expert on all things - Steven Cojocaru has published his VD gift guide.
Gift guide
Included on the list are personalized boxers, gem-studded cell phones and a $105 headband made famous by none other than Paris Hilton. I have not seen a picture of her in the $105 headband, but I hope it's a doozy.
Also included on the list is Kirsten Dunst's favorite item, the delux beauty Kiki bracelet for $195 bracelet that has lip gloss inside. Sounds more like something Barbie would push.

Given that the link was banned on my system, I'm not suprised that clicking it caused growth.
