Beanball Tour 2004 a/k/a Rocket's Red Ass

But, come on. This "we have a better rotation now" thing? Do you actually believe that? I will bet you a beer -- no, a bottle of Black Bushmills -- that not one of the "new/2004" pitchers in the above rotations you listed will match the wins of the "old/2003" pitchers. And that includes comparing Mussina 2004 to Mussina 2003. (Yeah, I'm taking a risk with leaving Weaver in there, but I'll stand by it.)

Done.

I agree that Vasquez is a boon for them, and am greatly ensaddened by his pinstripedness.

OK, if you say so.

Which bet do you want? Total victories Vasquez/Brown versus Pettite/Clemens or Lower ERA?

I'll buy you as many beers as you can drink before I get bored and want to go home if Kevin Brown has 17 or more victories this year in the regular season. By "victory" I mean "wins", which to say that we are not counting the times he returns from the DL.

Me too, though I never thought of an animated light bulb appearing over Daffy Duck's head as a sign he's a major intellectual. But perhaps I'm wrong on this point.

Someone interviewed for a job in the TV-legal group here that was dissatisfied with her job at Playboy. Had I interviewed her, I would have asked her if she wanted to switch, straight up.
I've heard that Perfect 10 girls are expected to hang around the offices to have lunch with the magazine's senior staff.

"Senior staff" is just one guy, and they're not using the words the way you might first think.

I was thinking the same thing. FB field trip to see the Astros visit Shea. I'll fly to Queens for that one.

That's it.

I sort of thought that people were using the (hi _____!) thing ironically at this point. sort of the way paigow mocked the memo thing to death. maybe I give other people too much credit.
agreed that it's sell by date has come and gone.

If you could have any job (with lack of talent or experience being no bar to success), what would you choose?

I'd probably stick with law. I derive a tremendous amount of pleasure and stimulation from arguing on behalf of my clients and preparing meticulously and getting a good result. Its actually quite satisfying when it works out for the best, even if it is somewhat life consuming.
Of course I'm fucking with you.
I'll put my real dream occupations (if that's what they can even be called) in another post.

Indeed. Perhaps the FB's recording secretary can make a note of it? Yes? Thanks.
I figure worse-case scenario is that you'll be sipping Irish whisky while Boston battles Oakland in the LCS.
And apropos of nothing, what is wrong with Simon? That dude went ballistic in the Garden the other night.

Since I am on your IL and you will never see this, I guess I am posting this for all you others.
Paris Hilton tops Mr. Blackwell’s annual Worst-Dressed List. Blackwell says “from cyber disgrace to red carpet chills -- she’s the vapid Venus of Beverly Hills!”
Madonna and Britney Spears are tied for second. Blackwell says someone should “arrest the Kissing Cousins of Couture Crime.”(enough already Mr. B)
Shania Twain, Diane Keaton and Jessica Simpson. Then come Celine Dion, Missy Elliott, Melanie Griffith, Courtney Love and Lara Flynn Boyle.
No surprises.
For the record, this dress sucks.

Disagree, vehemently. It's got two great hooks and a few other serviceable ones, an all-time great distinctive vocal track, some killer lyrics ("Lend me some sugar! I am your neighbor!"), and takes a style in a new direction.*
*I recognize that some non-mainstream hip hop groups have been heading down this road for awhile; this is new for popular hip hop.
