New Toy Review

Being that I am reformed, this is (surprise!) not a review about a new sex toy...

Being also that I somehow misplaced my Nomad II MP3 player (God, I hate losing things--I feel like I am on the slow path towards Alzheimers), I decided to go buy an MP3 jukebox since the prices have come WAY down.

After checking out the reviews on CNET, I stopped off at Best Buy and picked up a Creative Nomad Zen Jukebox. I have to give this thing a serious thumbs up. For $299, I got a 20 GB hard drive, which is enough to hold most of my stolen music collection (you pay $200 more for the same drive in an iPod). It has a rechargeable battery, which holds juice for 12-14 hrs per charge. Took it to the gym and absolutely love the thing. No more having to move songs back and forth from the laptop to the player (and since I am lazy, that usually means I am stuck bouncing on the elliptical to the same songs for six month). Anyway, just thought I would pass along the recommendation for anyone who likes working out to their MP3 collection.

Real Men don't kayak.

They may paddle, but they never kayak.

It's like the difference between refinishing a desk, and rosemalling.

I have a Creative Zen also. Was Christmas gift from SO. I recommended it on the old boards as a good one and was summarily beaten in and about the face by iPod people. Oh well. For those who don't have a Mac, the Zen player is quite nice. And the size of an old cassette tape walkman (dating myself).

How can you punch the cows? They have such pretty eyes. You are a mean person.

I have a friend who at age 36 or so found out (when he was trying to buy a life insurance policy) that he had hepatitis C, and not only that, but was perilously close to having cirrhosis (don't ask me how you can "almost" have it -- that's just what he told me -- but the bottom line is, his liver was really fucked up). He is a drinker (drink every day, but not get drunk every day) and smoker (HEAVY smoker). He has since quit drinking, but the doctor told him not to bother with the smoking, because the Dr. figured he probably wouldn't be able to give up both, and the liquor was more dangerous than the smoking. No insurance company will insure his life.

He had to have a six-month course of interfuron (sp?) treatments, which didn't work, and then another six months, which stemmed the progression of the disease. Believe me, interferon treatments are not pretty. He's on a list to receive a liver for transplant, but it hasn't come through yet.

He's got two young daughters -- it's very sad.

So yes, you can develop liver problems young.

Well, that would be a GREAT rule if everyone followed it.

People don't fat-bash because they think fat is unhealthy, they do it because they think fat is ugly, and they can't separate their feelings for the excess fat on their bodies (actual or theoretical) from their feelings for other human beings who happen to be fat.
Nobody bashes people for smoking and drinking on the FB because, first, good looking people look cool when they smoke and drink, and second, smoking and drinking don't ruin your looks until you have been doing them for a long, long time, by which time you will be old.

Now, you can't prevent getting old, unless you jump off a cliff before you get there. But you can prevent getting fat. One way to prevent that is to say horrible things about fat people.

Pretty eyes or no, I have it on good authority that a bloodthirsty teenage Bilmore was not only punching, but killing, hundreds of cows a day. Must have been some kind of rampage. However, since I oppose greenhouse gas emissions, I will shake his hand if I ever meet him. Fucking bo-vines, with their greenhouse gases. If God has meant them to share the planet with us, he wouldn't have made them out of steak.

Saying horrible things about fat people burns more calories than saying other types of horrible things? I will have to refocus my bile.

No, no, that's Real Men.

Hell, I have rosemalled. I have kayaked. I have . . . (No, we'll leave the sheep part out.) I have no standing in the pantheon of virility.

On a related note -- related to calorie burning that is -- on my radio program today it was stated that having an orgasm burns 112 calories while faking an orgasm burns around 350. I have not independently verified this factoid but it was part of a quiz-show like contest with listeners so I imagine there is some rule about having to be somewhat correct so as to not screw the listeners out of prizes. Anyway, I gotta say what the fuck to this. What a fucked up thing to burn more calories by faking. Perhaps this is why some women are skinny???

A corollary of this is that men with thin gfs/wives are bad in bed.
