I agree TF. This has proved to me that at times the American public can smell a stinker and refuses to be sucked in. A concept that the mental midgets in Hollyweird seem to have an inability to grasp.

But there are approximately 500,000 people out there who I am concerned about. Hey, I hope the two kids at least got some nice jack out of it because making a fool out of yourself gratis sucks -- not that I would know anything about that.
Of course, they both act, sing and look better than I do and I didn't come close to making $2.9 million this weekend for myself or anyone else (but the tax cut put an extra $150 in my check and only $4k in earnings/salary to go until they stop taking social security out -- which in no way makes up for 49% of my bonus, those fuckers).

For Love or Money
Almost keeled over--initially thought this was reference to sweet, innocent Paige Davis of Trading Spaces who I would have been devastated to think of as a two-bit criminal pervert.
Whew.

A concept you have failed to grasp, however, is the video rental aftermarket. That piece of shiite will probably do gangbusters business in the 10-15 year old rental market. Its the perfect vanilla flick for little kids to watch.

Opened at No. 11? Jeez, there are 25 cent porn flicks with bigger openings. (Ba-dum.)
A review in today's paper says that one of the flick's only funny moments is when a friend derisively refers to Guarini as "Sideshow Bob." I feel vindicated, but am wondering if I should sue for idea theft. Or if "Holy shit, he looks like Sideshow Bob" really qualifies as an idea.

Budget for FJTK was (only) $12M. It's marketing costs were low; most of it free advertising on Idol and Juniors. It will absolutely do enough in rentals and home entertainment sales to make money for the distributor. Unlike, say, Hollywood Homicide, which was heavily advertised and had a much bigger budget. I doubt that will make money, and is probably the biggest disappointment of the summer (at least until Meg Ryan's Against the Ropes comes out). That said, I haven't seen either, but I did see Spellbound and was very impressed. Watching the Bee on ESPN is much more dramatic and exciting. But how about that girl from Texas whose dad doesn't speak English -- how incredibly moving was she!?!
Oh, and Frylock, how's things working out with 69hotgirl?

Spoilers: I use the word "tennis" in this post
I have to correct you. The only thing more boring to read about than tennis is golf, hockey and you. In that order. But you dont hear me complaining about golf and hockey out of courtesy. I skim through half the posts. I suggest you do the same. With stealth. Cause we already have a bilmore.

If there are things other than match play being discussed (e.g. people's clothing) that won't suffer from aging.
Just to preempt, "Paigow, I know that I add nothing to the discussion of anything and people don't care about my opinions or non-opinions because I add nothing, but I'm still going to post this."

Izzard, Dunst, and the Movies
That he was movie ugly and old was the point, how? Charlie was a stud and the whole point was to see her tested into choosing the stud or the rich old geezer. With an ugly old actor, there is no point bc there would be no attraction. Which is precisely why he was miscast.

He was playing Charlie Chaplin. That he was "movie ugly" and too old for her was kinda the point. He was brilliant in showing how she could have found him attractive, though she was the mistress of the richest man in the world.
Anyway, I like Kirsten Dunst. Bring it On was a very fun movie (and I love the dude from Upright Comedy Brigade as the "spirit fingers" coach) and I also liked her in Crazy/Beautiful.

My heart missed a beat but then I realized that I love hockey enough for both of us so the friendship is not lost. :dance2:

A date that will live in infamy
June 22, 2003. Mark it on your calendars. Not that there was really any doubt about it, but Michelle Wie, a/k/a, the Big Wiesy is the next big thing in sports, and will arguably be the first REALLY BIG THING in women's sports. Like, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods big thing.
Yesterday, Michelle won the U.S. Women's Public Links Amateur, which is a big honkin deal. At 13, she's the youngest person ever to win an adult USGA event. She beat the reigning NCAA women's champ 1-up in the 36 hole final, outdriving her by 80 yards on several holes. She came back from 4-down at one point.
If I could buy stock in things like "Michelle Wie is going to make a hundred zillion dollars in the next twenty years," I would do it. Seriously.
Paigow, you can wake up now.
By the way, the talk about heights recently made me start wondering how tall y'all be being. I picture Sebby and Burger as kinda medium height (5'10") and wiry, taxwonk and bilmore as on the shorter side, Slave and Jack Manfred at an even 6'0. Thurgreed at 6'1 or 6'2? Just wild guesses. I automatically picture all women at 5'4-5'6, cause that's how they all look to me anyway, but feet to the fire, I figure Abba and e/o as a bit shorter, and leagl and paigow (because of the umbrella rant) as a bit taller. Irregardless, I think everyone here would be big fun to go drinking with. Sadly y'all are far from home (but not far from talented).
That last line was borrowed shamlessly from Eric Idle's briliant mockumentary, the Rutles: "In 1963, the Rutles found themselves in Hamburg, far from home, and far from talented."

Anyone else watch the season premiere last night? What is with the short bald guy that Charlotte is seeing now? Was he on last season?
