Report: Bryant agrees
to settle sex assault suit
Agreement reportedly covers
accuser's emotional, other injuries
Nice timing anyway - with the freak show going on in Santa Barbara, this will hardly get any press.
does this get me any points?

Jury is back in the Blake trial.
I say they say he's guilty as hell.

Blake Verdict
Took 8 days, so I'm not positive, but I'll still go with Guilty.
Just can't get past the "I had to go back to the restaurant to get my gun" defense...

Blake Verdict
Not guilty on the murder charge and not guilty on solicitation of muder. The jury is deadlocked (11 to 1) on the remaining charge (a second solicitation charge), with 11 jurors in favor of a not guilty verdict.

Lil' Kim
Any comment on Lil' Kim's perjury conviction? I haven't followed the story, but the author of this article - who, FYI, is generally a dipshit: she can't even write a smart article on fashion, her beat, but then again, it IS a DC paper-- seems to want her to be punished for her image.
Curious to see how sentencing turns out. Penalties look steep.

I don't care so much about her image. I'm not an advocate of lying to a grand jury, so I can't say I have a lot of sympathy for her, even if she were otherwise as pure as the driven snow. Perhaps she was poorly counseled, if she was counseled at all.
Whatever sentence she gets, it will work to her professional benefit. Prison will give her more street cred and help revive her flagging career.
No, I do not listen to her.

Who is this "Lil' Kim" you are all talking about? Do you mean Lil' Kim Gotti? ITEM! I love that "These Boots are Made For Walking" song that she wrote for that show on AMC.

FYI, just occurred to me, for our purposes a hung jury will count as a Not Guilty until such time as the person may be retried and convicted or acquitted the second time around.

So does this mean we're still waiting for Phil Spector to close this one out?

This will be an ongoing competition, purely for pride unless someone has a suitable prize (though side wagers are your business), where contestants predict the outcome of notable celebrities' and other infamous characters' brushes with the law. To enter, just make your prediction on the outcomes of the legal matters affecting the five people listed below.
Contestants must be regular posters, as determined at the sole discretion of the Admins. (no multiple sock entries allowed). You cannot make a prediction on a case to which you or your employer have any connection, nor can you do anything to influence the result of the case.
Here are the six choices you have for each case:
1) Guilty as charged on all counts;
2) Acquitted on all charges -- defendant walks;
3) Guilty on some counts or lesser charges, but not all counts. (Must be at least one not guilty returned.)
4) Takes plea;
5) Charges dropped;
6) Other (Flees the country, dies before trial, etc.)
Here are the first five cases:
1. Michael Jackson
2. Scott Peterson
3. Kobe Bryant
4. Robert Blake
5. Phil Spector
As events warrant (and as we receive suggestions, which are welcome), we will add additional cases. Obviously by its nature this will run a long time.
Since there's nothing to win, there's no real need for secrecy so just post your predictions here. Please note that this contest is just for fun and is not intended to provoke deep philosophical discussions as to why a particular contestant believes in a particular outcome.
For the record, here are my predictions --
1. Michael Jackson -- 3
2. Scott Peterson -- 1
3. Kobe Bryant -- 2
4. Robert Blake -- 1
5. Phil Spector -- 3
Thanks for playing, and good luck.

So I think the answers are:
1. Jackson -- 2
2. Peterson -- 1
3. Bryant -- 5
4. Blake -- 2
5. Spector -- 1
Who is in the running?

A quick survey says we all suck. A couple people got 2 right, most got one or none.
