I have seen They Might Be Giants twice. I used to have a prosthetic forehead on my real head.

Yes, which was my original point. The Grateful Dead will not be remembered solely by Touch of Gray. And Midnight Oil will not be remembered only by Beds are Burning. And Duran Duran will not be remembered only by Hungry Like the Wolf. Even Falco had two hits: Der Kommissar and Rock Me Amadeus.

Taco will always be remembered by Puttin' on the Ritz (a fucking cover, at that).

Which, btw, would not be a bad FB theme song:

If you're blue and you don't know where to go to
why don't you go where fashion sits,
Puttin' on the ritz.

Different types who wear a day coat,
pants with stripes
and cutaway coat, perfect fits,
Puttin' on the ritz.

Dressed up like a million dollar trouper
Trying hard to look like Gary Cooper (super duper)

Come let's mix where Rockefellers walk with sticks
or "umberellas" in their mitts,
Puttin' on the ritz.

Have you seen the well-to-do up and down Park Avenue
On that famous thoroughfare with their noses in the air
High hats and Arrow collars white spats and lots of dollars
Spending every dime for a wonderful time

If you're blue and you don't know where to go to
why don't you go where fashion sits,
Puttin' on the ritz.
Puttin' on the ritz.
Puttin' on the ritz.
I prefer the cover done by Peter Boyle and Gene Wilder

I know that you will be very upset after you have found out that you made this mistake, but my husband did the exact same thing last weekend, and he is showing his face about, so you can too.
Dont you know by now never to take ANYTHING the pretty one says about anything literally? He was clearly mocking the "Men" of the 80s and their stupid band names.

Dont worry, Pretty. I get you. Though I love Pushy a little more.

Um, yeah, right. Sorry, I guess I forgot about Safety Dance.

As for D Squared, those boys were prettier than me. Flitting about on sailboats and what have you, singing their catchy little ditties. But whatever works for you. I am not judging anyone here. Ever.

This entire thread makes me realize I will be plagued by horrific 80s music for many years to come.
Go to hell, again. Men Without Hats did the medieval ideo with leaping midgets doing the "Safety Dance" around a maypole and are not to be confused with a band of respectable Aussies.

If it's any comfort, the drug and alcohol binges are severaly showing on the Duran boys' appearance now.

I saw The Band, without Robbie Robertson, at that cheezy club in Stamford (i think the word "tree" is in the name) that is on I-95 right near the Old Greenwich border. Take a load off fannie. And I think I also saw BTO there as well. Or are they the same band? You aint seen nothing yet, buh buh buh baby.

Also saw Modern English open up for UB40 on the Pier. UB40 played for about 45 minutes. I was so totally disappointed.
I saw UB40 in a gymnasium at SUNY Geneseo or Oswego or one of those little SUNY schools (can't keep them straight), and really enjoyed it. Also saw Violent Femmes at one of those places. Back when slam dancing was soooo fun!!! No women were picked up and carried overhead, as is the rage today (add groping).

My nomination for the ultimate 1HW is Don McLean. Yes, I know he also did "Vincent," but the song sucks and the only people who like it aer the semi-literate mongoloids who think they're impressive because they know that "Vincent" refers to Van Gogh. Don't know if it ever became a hit.

Confusing SUNY-Geneseo with SUNY-Oswego is almost as grave an error as confusing Men At Work with Men Without Hats.

Men at Work is one of the few bands that seriously make me cringe with their badness. I saw their cd in Tower the other day and thought back to my youth with disdain. Most other acts that I have liked hold up to me scrutiny today. Not Men at Work or Bryan Adams tho.

That's only about 6 less times than I have seen them, which included a benefit for McSweeney's magazine hosted by PLF - I mean, Dave Eggars, but TMBG are local icons.

And weird.

Also, I used Joan Jett's tour bus bathroom. I talked with her about it, and apparently it's no joke: She really *does* love rock and roll.

(The bathroom part is true. My conversation with her was not all that involved--she was talking to my companions).

No. Modern English was the reincarnated version of Modern English, what with releasing Melt With You, remixed, on some album 12 years later.

FYC was some bizarre New Order/General Public cross. They drove me crazy.
