"Fake Plastic Trees" is their best pop song - clearly unappreciated by both the masses (Republicans) and Atticus (Democrats).

I also can think of 13 other Radiohead songs, none of which I can name - nor can you, think about it - which are better than "Creep". And I'm not including "Hail...Thief", on which the verdict is still out. As it took me a month for "Kid A", I'll give it it's due.

My local public radio station has been playing the hell out of Hail to the Thief. It has some terrific songs, and it's made it on my list of albums to buy the next time I hit the record store.

Really? What's up with that? I thought they'd broken up and he had such bad hearing loss that he wasn't performing anymore. (Never could get into Birdsongs of the Mesozoic.)

"Creep" only made it to #34 on The Billboard Hot 100.
"High And Dry" made it to #78 on The Billboard Hot 100.
I don't think either of them reaches the platonic ideal of a "hit," but if "Creep" is a hit, then "High And Dry" is too.

If you want to expand your scope to include the Modern Rock Charts, then "Creep," "Stop Whispering," "Fake Plastic Trees," "Just," "High And Dry," "Let Down," "Karma Police," "Optimistic, "I Might Be Wrong," and "There There" are hits, and you're still wrong.

I never said I thought "Creep" was their best song. No Radiohead fan thinks that. I did say that I bought a 15 track CD by Christopher O'Riley with piano transcriptions of Radiohead songs.... Maybe I couldn't have named 13 better songs last month, but my short term memory hasn't been ravaged by as many toxins as yours.

Remember the Scooby Doo rule - zoiks! American top 40? Scooby Snacks? I.E. #34 is actually IN the "top 40" whereas "#78" is not? But why let some 4th grade math get in the way. Especially with a fellow In-n-Out friend. But I digress.

I appreciate the "Baby" O'Riley reference [great stuff, and a better pun], but you're killing me here.

PM me and we can continue this insult in 2 weeks.

Besides, shouldn't she get credit for all that faux-lesbionic time served with Liv Tyler in all of those Aerosmith videos. Shouldn't t.A.T.u. have to pay them royalties or something? Couldn't Britney Murphy at least pushed to have Alicia be the maid-of-honor in Just Married? Am I asking too much here?
Alicia is too busy now with her sitcom on NBC. I wouldn't know this if it weren't for For Love or Money because they plug the hell out of it during the commercial breaks for that show. I'm not sure it is on yet, but she will be a matchmaker.

I also prefer Alicia to Reese (tho she was great in Election).

Michael Ian Black was so fucking funny in that VH-1 '80s retrospective that I forgave him for having three names and seriously considered writing him a crush letter and offering to cook him dinner. My wife consented to this plan, something she has only ever previously done for Dave Grohl among my hundreds of weird celebrity crushes, but I never got off my ass to do it. Also surprisingly funny on that show were Mo Rocca, who showed up with material and did better than he does on TDSwJS, and Hal Sparks.

Based solely on its star-launching power, Talk Soup will go down in history as the only thing of value E! has ever produced.
Speaking of funny comedians, has anyone watched the Comedy Central standup special of Jim David? He is a gay southern guy and the best line in the show is:

"I can't be a Democrat because I like to spend the money I earn and I can't be a Republican because I like to spend the money I earn on drugs and whores."

He's very funny if your ever are flipping past...

Road Trip Albums

The Cars--Greatest Hits
Blondie--The Best of Blondie
Parliament/Funkadelic--Tear the Roof Off
Pearl Jam--Ten
Go-gos--Beauty and the Beast

Best throw-a-bathing-suit-in-the-back-of-the-car-and-hit-the-accelerator song ever is "Let's Go"--listened to it today and nearly played hooky.

Also, I know "greatest hits" albums are a wuss-out but I can't stand futzing around with the CD skipping over filler when I just want to drive.

Bathing Suit Shopping

Do you all know of anywhere (other than Victoria's Secret) that sells bathing suit separates with the tops based on bra sizes? All I am really looking for is a top with an underwire and a string bottom, which is proving difficult to find.

I haven't been really excited with the selections in the local stores, which are all the same 6-8 designers.

I think J Crew sells bathing suit separates that might have what you need. Other than that, I would try a bathing suit shop, rather than a department store.

I think that J Crew might. DISCLAIMER: I really dislike J Crew and the swimsuit that I bought from them at one point was promptly returned (no padding; smashed my little boobies into nothingness), but I think they do separates...

If I were to pick 5 CDs for a road trip today, they would be as follows:

1. Duran Dur . . . um . . .

1. Ursula 1000 - All Systems Are Go Go
2. Hindu: The New Bombay Style
3. Orchestra Baobab - Specialist in All Styles
4. The Hives - Veni Vidi Vicious [which is actually enjoying a revival in my car these days]
5. Sugarman 3 - Pure Cane Sugar

If I were to pick 5 CDs for a road trip tomorrow, you would probably get very different answers. I'm very moody.

If my SO were to choose 5 road trip CDs, they would be:

1. White Stripes - Elephant
2. White Stripes - Elephant
3. White Stripes - Elephant
4. White Stripes - Elephant
5. White Stripes - Elephant

Thanks for the suggestion, eo. Their offerings seem to be made for a whispy thin flat-chested, sort and don't seem as if they would offer enought support. There si something about them that makes them look like they smash, not lift and support.

Guess I'll take the luch hour to head over to T-backs & More. Yeeeeeehaaaaa!!!!

Disclaimer: Despite the name of the store, no need to worry about me and a T-back. I have too great a love of humanity to inflict my almost naked ass on it.

If you can't find a good US company, try www.bravissimo.com , maker of my beloved underwire tank tops--they have bikini separates by cup size. Good luck!
