I am not even going to click on that. Why don't you repost the link where all the people vent about their miserable marriages to brighten the mood?

That was actually pretty funny. I liked the buttons.

And the fact that MyDeathSpace is sponsored by Table For Six dating service. I'm having visions of the date scenes in Harold and Maude.

2. Not sad. Or, not the tiny snippet I read. And I can't get onto MySpace at work, even through links.

Coltrane had better be looking for pretty pictures rather than stuffing his face. With food or otherwise.

It was a good book, but none of the characters' situations shed light on Owens, at least from what I remember.

Superstar athelete. Stunningly wealthy. Talented at a level that is truly magnificent -- whatever you say about his personality, his character, his ability to truly fuck up a team, his physical talent is marvelous. (People like him remind me of the line in Searching for Bobby Fischer -- "He's better at this than I am at anything. He's better at this than you ever will be at anything.")

And depressed to the point of being suicidal. It doesn't fit. Granted, he was and is disliked by more people than anyone on this board, or everyone together, has even met. But he seemed to thrive off that, too.

I don't know -- I'm not clear why I find this so sad. I've watched people travel the path to suicide or suicide attempts, and it's just not something you forget.
Searching for Bobby Fischer is. There has never been a movie more full of nothing.

you know the scene at a tournament where they lock all the parents in a room? my ex-aunt was one of the parents- she had a bigger role at first, but snip snip.

It is very sad and he sounds like he has a lot wrong in his head. But it's hard to feel overly upset for someone who does their best to either (i) push everyone away that they can or (ii) actively engage in making people hate him. It's like he thrived on it and loved the attention, good and bad. And now it seems he didn't?

What's sadder still is that people (um...like me) assume it has to do with the fact that he is unloved by the public when he might really have some family, relationship or otherwise deeply personal shit that he is struggling with.

Who knows what's really wrong with the guy? And what's saddest still is that he won't be able to just deal with this in a way that normal people do. He will have to face it and questions about it, day in and day out, for the foreseeable future.
