You don't have to make a quantum leap to orthodox Buddhist poverty, but just consider making a move toward being less centered on material for material's sake.

It's ok to dig nice shit. I do. We all do. But you shouldn't talk about it like its a goal. It's fine to say what you like, but discussing what you're getting isn't all that interesting. It's like listening to someone talk to you about his or her dream last night.

The other thing is, posting about what someone gave you isn't substantive. "My boss gave me a necklace, and it was made..." isn't saying anything. So what? It's like writing "I bought a minivan last week" or "I bought a refrigerator yesterday." So what? Where's the compelling narrative there? Where's the punchline? It's not even a request for advice.

It's amazing that you miss the thread that holds these boards together time and time again, namely, that the people here are seeking refuge from the vapid world of people around them who think standing in their office doorway and saying "I bought a Jaguar" is a conversation starter. You can have a conversation about buying shit, and liking expensive shit, but it has to have an interesting hook - some funny observation about the item. Dryly discussing exchanges of cash for high end material is nothing but white noise.
I am going to try to replace my devotion to consumerism and mindless pursuit of material riches with the pursuit of wanton sex, thus my "be friendlier" resolution. Do buddhists have the wanton sex?

Now Laimbeer grabs Bird- you say to pull him down- but this is a guy who is clearly off balance and falling. Look again at Rodman- there are big bodies flying all around. I say it might be instinct- or more likely he is trying to make sure Bird doesn't get a shot off. NBA rule, at least then, was if you foul someone make sure they don't get the shot off. It's not possible to you that is what happened? Keep in mind it is a really big guy who is falling while it's happening.
You are 100% out of your mind. Laimbeer wraps his arms around Bird's neck and intentionally takes him down. I've watched it from every available angle and there is no way I will ever agree with your read. And I really don't think you believe it either.

You believe wrong. There isn't a game in the world where a player could do this to another player and not get into a fight. Period.

Sure. Didn't mean to offend on that level. How's this?: Reading your post is like listening to one of the boneheaded Yankee fans (and I'll admit there are a few) trying to justify Clemens' throwing of the bat at Piazza. I am losing respect for your take on basketball -- and that's the one area in which you generally tend to make sense.

Bullshit. Strong rebounders box out. They use their ass, ability to position themselves, desire and the power in their legs to rebound. Laimbeer leads with his elbow, which he is deliberately throwing in the general vicinity of Parish's face and throat. We all know he did it over and over again. In fact, leading with your elbow like that doesn't get you any advantage over a strong rebounder because you aren't in proper position to box out and you give the guy you're trying to cheap shot a chance to simply out leap you.

People throw elbows because they aren't athletic or skilled. They do it to make better players concentrate on something other than what they're supposed to. It's fucking annoying and if you do it, someone will eventually clock you for it. Ask Kobe.

All that may be true, but he was cheap shot artist and a flopper too. And outside of Detroit, he will be remembered more for that than anything else he's ever done.

If we had the tape, someone would have done with Laimbeer what was done with Zidane this summer.

1. Be less gratuitously mean, esp. to my bf, because big cocks (hi fringey!) don't grow on trees.

2. Go boxing 4x week, 3x minimum.

3. Seven hours of sleep each night.

4. Don't get fired.

5. Save more money.
1. Dig myself out of the hole.

2. Spend my time more effectively.

3. Be more patient with my kids.

4. Don't die.

(The last one's sort of a perennial. Given it's the only one I've ever stuck with, I'm keeping it on the list.)

BnB and I have a love that is pure and true and I don't need to throw twenties at her. And we go to better places than Bennigan's.

Pure as cocaine at a cub scout jamboree. It's obvious your relationship is purely physical.

all the rain falls down amen on the works of last year's man

Last holiday card finally - FINALLY - signed and out the door. They may not get mailed before the new year, but dammit, I did my part. I'm ignoring the little voices floating names of people I don't recall seeing in the stacks, as well as the ones calling for a nasty, murderous end to my assistant as a result.

I don't think you're considering that Laimbeer is not in control of where his body is going, but whatever. Now he coaches girls. You know Isiah almost hired him right?
