Interactive tour.

One of my friends is a part-time rafting guide in that area (full-time lawyer too). He puts together a trip for his friends every year, but thus far I haven't been able to go on it. Maybe next year.

My guess is it is still Federal Property. You seem to have it figured out. Go for it. I would love to see the Mint restored and turned into museum. I would like to help but probably could not be of much assistance. San Francisco is a Democrat (and possibly soon to be a Green) party town. I don't have any pull there.

Then you'd be kicking thousands of homeless rats into the streets. SF would never stand for that.

Was this the exact moment when you were called to the dark side? Can I call you Anni? Did you kiss by the lake at Alviso?

You're there and I'm here. My time and energies are devoted to improvement projects in my own backyard (literally - my lawn has been giving me trouble, and I got a $150 water bill for June that said I used 25,000 gallons of water. Apparently, there's a leak in my sprinkler system.).
I would think the SF mint deserves at least as much care as the Lawrence Welk home. It's not a R or D issue (I'm never sure about the Greens). Set up a nonprofit Save the Mint! foundation. Have some kickin' (free for you!) fundraisers. All CA politicians will contribute their name to your effort, if only to get their mugs on your PSA commercials, which the local stations will run for free. Distinguished law firms will draft legislation for you pro bono, which all of the CA congressional delegation will present as a united front. It's your way of becoming a Community Leader.

I say tear it down and transplant some of the big trees like you can at least walk through. I imagine you can't transplant the kind you can drive through because you'd need a too big truck,

Bingo. At that exact, perfectly caught in time moment, I developed my enduring attraction to Ani DiFranco.

While I suspect I am on your Ignore List bc you don't want to hear about my father, I may have to close this joint down. Its has strayed aways from its founding purposes. Pity. Now I have no place to go. The FB is too busy. THe PB seems to have turned into the FB for some reason. I am there so RP is there, people are flaming and piling on. I would start a Sebby board but I think his ego is blossoming out of control as it is.
Any ideas?

You really should run over to the FB for a bit. baltassoc outed himself as cuckold, and he and RT hooked up over the weekend and are now in a ldr. RT said the sex was the best ever for a first-time hookup.
eta: I forgot some of this was revealed on the PB, which you have been visiting lately. Sorry if you already knew all this.
efta: I'm sure there are other guys who are dying to hear about your father.
esfta: I've heard Hank is interested in having a tribute board. He needs a gentle place to go sometimes.

Someone is beating you to this.
Mint is a beautiful word. Say it with me -- "mint." "Mint." Everything about it is good. Refreshing flavor. Hard candy with refreshing flavor. Place where they make money. Large amount of money. Condition of entirely undamaged antique gewgaw. "Mint." To give you some frame of reference, Spanky, these things are good things --- things that we non-flippers cherish the way you would cherish a Beautiful old building on prime real estate.

Good for them. I am not kidding when I said it was covered in rats. I have never seen so many rats in my life. Less was pretty drunk so he had trouble focusing but once he did he jumped back about ten feet. I tried to count the ones just on the stairway but gave up at like seventy eight.
It took us a while to figure out that it was the Mint. A homeless guy showed us the Plaque. I know we are not supposed to encourage panhandling, but I gave the guy a fiver because I figured he was pretty much acting like a volunteer Docent.
I bought my first proof sets at that Mint. I also bought those bicentennial commerative sets there in 76. On the tour they would stamp a coin right there for you. I hope they bring the tour back.

They'd brand an "S" right on a rat's back for the visitors?

Exactly
My cat Sam will disappear for days. It is really weird. When he is around he can't get enough food. If the bowl is empty for a few hours he freaks out. Yet every once in a while he just blows town for up to five days. I would think that someone else is feeding him but he is so shy of other people.
It also can't be a female cat because he is fixed.
Can't figure out what he is up to and what the hell he is eating on these excursions.
