Beer Question

I remember in the 80s, Yankee stadium had one of those mini-wooden bat giveaways during a Boston game. Not smart. I also saw a huge Redsox banner made out of a sheet go up in flames when the Yanks were trailing to Sox. Different game.
Full bottles of beer (glass or plastic), thrown from the upper deck can kill you.

yeah fuckin Yankees spoiled it for everyone. I haven't been to a ball park in awhile that still served in bottles. But the deal in Phoenix is that bars in ALL of Phoenix, not just inside the stadium, are forced to serve in plastic cups. That would really spoil the taste of a good microbrew.

Are they forced to or do they simply do it as a cost saving measure during a period of patron influx???? If you're bar sees a 50% rise in patronage during the games, why not dispense with the constant washing and retrieving of beer glasses and simply pour beer into disposable cups. No washing, no retrieving, and no busted glass on the floor after the Dodgers or whomever get done mopping up and the natives are restless.

Sounds to me like a ploy by the city to call attention to the team. Hey, if you want to drink a beer right now, make sure the tv is on in support of YOUR... ARIZONA... DIAMONDBACKS (cheesy announcer voice), and since you didn't hike out to the ball field to support YOUR... ARIZONA... DIAMONDBACKS, you must drink your beer out of a plastic cup. Next time, you'll go to the ballpark, won't you?

And it appears that a general social acceptance needs to happen here first, since there isn't the will to implement the change from the top down.

My second thought this morning, upon hearing Frist's comments, was that we may need to officially change the venue for the Odds-Man nuptuals to Canada.
My first thought was a profound sense of shame at the idiots elected to "lead" our country. A constitutional amendment?!

It's amazing how people will hock you to get married when all they really want is to relive their own Barbie wedding fantasy and have an excuse to go to a fancy party and get ripped. ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](http://www.lawtalkers.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

Ah. Well, that makes no sense. And ASU is in Tempe (which ain't far from Phoenix), so the 40,000 or so drunk bottle-throwing college kids likely are not the problem either.
Lessons in drafting needed.

Thanks. That's very thoughtful.
Unfortunately, b/c I'm not original enough to invent my own screen name, I stole the line from Danny Glover in The Royal Tennebaums, which doesn't have much to do with the actual Coltrane.
But thanks for thinking of me.

I have always thought that extending marriage to cover same-sex marriages was at its heart a conservative policy. Generally speaking, to embrace marriage and all its attendant encumbrances (fidelity, perhaps children, responsibility for another person etc) is to embrace a traditional, conservative way of life. You would think that because marriage and family is the alleged cornerstone of American society that conservatives would think the more people that buy into it, the better. Seems philosophically inconsistent to deny it to someone. People are staying away from marriage in droves - if someone actually wants to get married those people who are fans of marriage should be happy.

I wonder what his views are on oral sex in apartments? Is it just if I own a home? What if I do it in a car? Or on my desk? And what if I do it with a man watching, does that change things at all?
This is all very confusing.

Fortunately, you have an FB community at your disposal to offer alternate venues, and to take over the administrative burden of that ticket thingie.

Hey, another way to make money for the site! Cool.
Listen, I don't know what y'all expect me to say about people like Bill and Rick and Pat and whomever else. Except perhaps that they are ignorant morons. Most of the time I ignore them, sometimes it hurts, but I try not to let it.
I cannot begin to express to you how it made me feel that it was even necessary to have the case, how I felt when I read Bowers around the time I was first coming out, or how I felt when I read Lawrence the other day. I can tell you I burst into tears when the decision was handed down.
I'm relieved and greatful that the Supreme Court has decided I can't be prosecuted in any state for having sex in private with another woman. I would be more greatful if the Bowers decision hadn't caused so much harm to so many people over the past 17 years. But there is no point in looking back now.

Yechh. That's why when I married the current hubby we went down to the courthouse one morning and did it and then I went back to work and called my parents a few days later and told them I was married. I did not have a large wedding with the first hubby but there was a dress and cake. Personally, I think that weddings are a colossal waste of time and money but people can do what they want -- I would rather have the cash.
And I believe that people should be permitted to do whatever the fuck they, as grown adults, want to do -- if you are happy together but not married why take the risk that exchanging vows will fuck it up (as all of the "experts" say it does)?

Our mothers and aunts have already been informed of our wedding plans. We sat them all down a couple of years ago and said: "at some point, we'll be married and you are not invited to the ceremony."
Our families are great, but it's still more than we want to do. We have a little teensy religious problem, so everyone will be slightly offended by whatever we choose.
They still get to have their big receptions in their towns and in our town, but we don't want other people's pressures, expectations, and issues on the day we choose to legally begin our lives together.

Out of curiousity, because I don't follow these things closely, other than Lawrence and Bowers, I'm sure there are other cases that didn't get to the S. Ct. involving sodomy statutes. Have any of them involved women, or is it always the boys the cops bust?

You are forced to. Still, it makes no sense. Of course, I always hated Phoenix to begin with - now the only reason to go to Phoenix (and the outlying areas) is for Spring Training.
