Cal. Corp. Code § (i)(1)(A), (B). A "Level 2" humane officer has basically the same powers, but may not carry a firearm.
Hehe, you said penal. And think of it as future research. It's certainly not going to come up in my practice.

Except for the Buck. We don't like the Buck. He seems to get bigger every time I see him.

About the size of one cat per visit.

Hmmmm. And Sidd has been gone for how long, and is ignoring you too? Suspicious.

edited to make it make sense
If he is providing sustenance to them, I think he could be characterized as harboring them. Eating from the trees -- not so much providing sustenance, because he's not growing the trees for the deer. But he provided water on purpose. And he's facilitating interaction between the deer and young children.

Thanks for nothing, pal. I had to do my legal reserach myself. Why do you do Spanky's googling for him but not mine?

I alaready went through this with Arty. Its a two pronger

1) Is he putting out:
(a) water dishes; and
(b) food dishes
And
2) Has he named the Deer?

Now we know that an infant has put outa water dish on Spanky's property, which Spanky is liable for. The infant is not legally capable of making a decision and Spanky did not say "get that the hell off my property" I dont think. I wouldl ike to subscribe the Attractive Nuisance theory here, as I like its name, but it does not apply.

Neither Spanky, nor the Infant, have put food into bowls. Happening to have Apple trees (which, as I understood from earlier posts, have been depleted of Apples), does not constitute Deer solicitation, though perhaps the Apple trees are Attractive Nuisances. Prong 1 of the pet prong fails which means we dont have to go to Prong 2, but lets do it shall we?

2) It seems there is only one Deer who has a name. Buck. I would have thought he was just identifying a male Deer, but that capitalization makes it appear to be a name. It also has a tribute sock, so I think its named. The rest of the Deer are nameless, so Spaky could only have one pet Deer. Buck.

I was gonna make my conclusion but I forgot what the question was. Is my food here yet?

they'll be needing a minister of Poster control on Insurge. Anyone wishing to apply take a shot at boiling this down to a series of instructions to deliver to Sergaent at Arms SS.

Stacey's parents are going to back me. There is going to be another Waco. Although no one seems to have any firearms so we are just going to have to make do with some Supersquirters.

There are many weird things about this story, not least of which being that a college educated man of wealth would suddenly go all hillbilly on some khaki-collar bureaucrat, but this is not one of them. In California, municipal services are delivered by a hodgepodge of districts and agencies. Incorporation of a city within a County does not divest the County of its police powers, other than providing more local jurisdiction for zoning, planning, building inspections and sometimes police protection. It does not divest the County as the political subdivision with primary authority to act in defense of state laws. For example, Palo Alto probably doesn't have its own Health Department, Coroner, DA, Department of Child Protective Services, Assessor, or Sealer of Weights & Measures. All of these things are primarily or solely County-level functions no matter what the incorporation status of the geographical region. There are other examples, I suppose.

If a guy with a County seal on his car tells you he has jurisdiction, chances are good he's not making it up. These guys do not seek out more work.

In other words, don't try telling the Santa Clara County Sheriff that his badge is a useless tin star in Spankyland.

I trust you remember how that turned out. Given the choice between a moral victory and a regular victory, choose the regular victory.

Choose your very favorite law or reg governing the sale of securities. It's a sad fact that armed SPCA employees are more interesting.

Serbian

I was trying to find a Serbian restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area. Either I am a lame researcher or one doesn't exist. It seems there is not a single Serbia restaurant in California (except for some small diner in Culver City). Can anyone prove me wrong?
