yeah, yeah. But I hate all the travel sites' extra fees. I use them just to find who's cheapest on the route, and then go direct to the airline's website. Rarely does expedia/travellocity/orbitz have a better price, once the $10 fee is added in.

Yes, the Wright Amendment is a federal law that was pushed through by the city of Fort Worth and by American Airlines and that only affects Love Field, Dallas, Texas. I'm sure the feds have a big interest in Love Field and whether or not long-haul flights operate out of there.

BTW, Legend Airlines won the right to fly long-haul flights out of Love Field (Midwest Express-type business plan, circumvented Wright Amendment by fitting planes with fewer seats and offering all business class flights), but not before American sent them into bankruptcy.

Southwest's flights to Houston, Austin, Oklahoma, etc. make no less noise/air pollution than their flights to destinations further than one state away would - SW flies all the same planes and it is limited in number of flights it can fly by the number of gates that are available there.

Complete bullshit.

Yeah, it might have been arguable to help give DFW a jump start, as was the reason for National (Dulles). But given DFW's volume, I can see the bullshit point.

I do the same thing. It's doubly rewarding.

Spring Break

OK, this is some crackpot's idea of where to go on springbreak if you're an adult and want to avoid the whole navel shots/girls gone wild scene. (Why would you want to do that?)
Anyway here is your top ten list:
1. Del Mar, Calif.
2. Tulúm, Mexico
3. Essaouira, Morocco
4. Cocoa Beach, Fla.
5. Jacó, Costa Rica
6. Las Vegas (what? Is this not the capital of girls gone wild?)
7. Kauai, Hawaii
8. Ojai, Calif.
9. Santa Cruz DeLa Palma, Canary Islands
10. Phoenix, Arizona

Obviously I have not taken enough "adult" vacations as I have only been to 5 of these destinations.

And Phoenix? Really? Phoenix? If you're going to Phoenix for spring break you might as well just kill yourself now. Woo hoo, a bunch of snowgeese driving Caddies in 110 degree heat (90 with wind chill factor). Fun times.

If you've graduated and going on spring break, you might as well kill yourself now. Or did I miss the law firm with the recruiting spiel, advertising "spring break for all our lawyers!"?

I wonder how Baghdad and Tehran fell off the list. I assume this list isn't for American women travelling alone.

There are a number of those partner types who run off with their families at this time. The rest of us stay here and hold down the fort.

Those certainly would be unlikely locations for a "Girls Gone Wild" video, so I'd suggest putting them on NFH's list.

There are some other nice places -- Bibletown, Alhati Christian Resort -- that you may want to try if seeking a tranquil vacation. But I'd rather head for Cancun and see who will come to Jesus, myself.

Skiing in Alberta, Canada

Seconded. Just got back from there over New Year's, and it was Cold (capital "C") -- when it gets to double-digits below zero, whether it's Farenheit or Celsius really doesn't matter. Lake Louise is more attractive but more remote, with nothing to do but eat at local restaurants (don't miss the Post Hotel, which was fabulous) and take in the view. Banff is a large town that's still walk-friendly, about 15-20 minutes from Sunshine and 45 minutes to 1 hour from Lake Louise, with lots to do, even a movie theater at night. Highly recommend the Fairmont hotels in each, especially the one at Banff Springs which has its own private version of the public outdoor hot springs that made the town famous when it was still a minor outpost on the Canadian railway.

However, if you're even thinking about skiing, go in November or after March. Still great snow (season runs until May), and a lot more comfortable.

However, if you're still in law school in 2001 and this year will be your last spring break ever, I highly recommend it. Especially if your law school's break coincides with Auburn/Alabama's break. Dear god - the chicks love the fact that you're in law school.

Wow, maybe I will go down there and see if I can pick me up some chicks. If they love law students, they must go even wilder for an actual licensed lawyer!!!

NFH, as the instigator of this thread, wanna come with me? We can periodically post on the FB to record how many chicks we've bagged with our impressive legal credentials.

Dammit. Have you been talking to Atticus again? I am not a man, but apparently I'm a hell of a sock.

That said, sure dude, as long as we can share the Ferrari rental. You can pick up the hot chicks and I'll get the shirtless dudes and we'll both wear Esq. shirts just so the spring breakers will know that we're cool lawyers.
