I resent that. And the blow job tips came from Thurgreed.

To quote Thurgreed, as you'd hear if you ever came across him professionally, take it or leave it.

Personally, I'm not bothered by socks, but what does strike me as odd, is how much trouble it would be to set one up, and how quickly they are set up. Aren't you people lazy? Where are the malingerers?

Sadly, it takes very little effort. So lazy malingerers like me ("like I?" Sigh. I Heart The FB) can waste even more time in an effort to make a little joke.

That bastard Sidd, however, beat me to the punch. Yet another one joke sock down the tubes.

I know that you're mocking with your opening line, but that's not sufficiently entertaining to redeem all of the unfunny, dismissive, judgmental generalizations that you and some other posters make about Say Hello. You frequently talk about Say Hello as if em is not actual people, and you do it in a way that suggests that you actually think of em that way in real life, and you're not just expressing yourself that way for comedic effect.

So the point of my post is that I really, really hate the Say Hello-bashing, and I'm trying to discourage it. It's not because I find the repetition of the topic to be tiresome, but rather because I am disappointed by what it is reduced to.

I don't know why I find this especially bothersome, moreso than any of the other ridiculous, disgusting, unfunny, offensive things that we say here. It's just that most of the time we ridicule particular people --whether public figures or other posters -- based on the things they do or say or post. And usually, when we ridicule people for how they think (e.g., Gilligan), or find fault with truly smart people (George Bush), it's about people who've put themselves into the spotlight and thus invited the scrutiny.

For similar reasons, I didn't like it when posters take articles about dumb people from news sites and said nasty things about their thinking under those articles; that just struck me as taking cheap shots at people. It struck me as sufficiently funny to make an allusion to what we all saw when we clicked on the link.

I'm not looking for political correctness, and I don't think everybody should be nice to one another all the time. But when Say Hello-bashing takes the board, it's not fun, or funny. That's all.

Edit: I can't believe this killed the board- its just the Puppy post from yesterday.
When all is said and done, it still comes down to drunk condors eating 27 tacos.

Maybe so, but if they keep doing this, I doubt they'll ever get laid.

I love that you think having a large, powerful client is somehow a flaw. Like, I would be a better lawyer if my client was some small, unknown company. I think you draw such conclusions because you're so smart. And since you're so smart, your clients must be the most unsuccessful companies in the world.

Though for some reason, when I read it both times, I "heard" it in Billy Crystal's voice.

If you couldn't get enough of the fat debate, here's some more.

"The prevailing opinion? People, not French fries, should be accountable for their flab. Barbra E. Minch, the tempest-in-a-teapot type who is president of the William F. Ryan Community Health Center on West 97th Street, is just relieved to see obesity making headlines."

The state of Minnesota is asking federal permission to bar people from using food stamps to buy candy bars, soda and other junk food.

If the U.S. Department of Agriculture approves, Minnesota would be the first state to impose such restrictions.

The change would still need the approval of the Legislature, where some anti-poverty activists call it a mean-spirited intrusion into the cupboards of the poor.
Here I though Minnesota was chock full of men kayaking, and woman spinning.

She's mad that Medicare won't pay for nutritionists.

The irony?

"Ms. Minch jumps out of her seat for a quick tour of her office art collection: a few pieces by her daughter, Melaine; an AIDS-centric commentary by Keith Haring; and colorful works by Angel Botello, bought on visits to San Juan. "If I won the lottery" she fantasizes. "But his paintings start at $40,000. So I settle for posters."

She's railing against not getting enough money to send her clients, on the government nickel, to nutritionists, (she went to one, on her own funds, and the result was that she switched from potato chips to pretzels) and says they're gonna die because of that, but she, in her own life, recognizes that resources determine realistic expectations. Why not give her clients books and pamphlets on proper nutrition? Do we really have to publicly fund nutritionist visits for all of the overweight people?

(OK, now this really is PB and not FB stuff.)

Here's a good article about Johnny Ramone's present life in retirement:
