There was a time when this would have sparked a sock within about 48 seconds. We all would have pissed on it for being stupid and obvious, but it would have been there.

G.O.! The teleporter joke was just kind of silly. But I like the helicopter angle!
I cannot wait to see what you do with the Veramyst commercial.

But I think the statement "You should be banned from the board" is unactionable opinion.

Excellent analysis. Can you turn your attention to the definition of "hyperbole" next? Thanks.

Yes. Me pointing out that you are a liar is the same. Brilliant.

In that particular instance, it was not a lie.
When I started the board I was a patent paralegal.
I am not now.

Absolutely. Hyperbole is basically exaggeration. For example, if you are criticising someone who is not intelligent, and you say this person has a two-digit IQ when this is not really true, you are engaging in hyperbole. An example of something that I think is not hyperbole would be saying something like: "You should be banned. That is a fact." I don't think you actually engaging in exaggeration in that instance.

This is produced in large quantities in cells that are damaged and cause pain. Without the presence of ASA this enzyme makes chemicals called prostaglandins, which send messages to the brain that part of the body is in pain. They also cause the area that has been damaged to release fluid from the blood so that it will swell up or inflame. This protects the damaged cells from further damage by creating a cushion. When aspirin is taken the enzyme is no longer able to make prostaglandins and some of the pain messages don’t get sent to the brain, so we feel less pain. Also the areas don’t inflame as much and inflammation is reduced.
But maybe I just made that up.

But, as long as we're on the subject, the action you described explains how aspirin reeduces the pain associated with inflammation. Other mechaniisms, which are understood to greater or lesser degrees, effect changes in body temperature and coagulation. It is more difficult to correlate the identified action of ASA to its peripheral effects.
I didn't just make this up.

You are not welcome. I don't "attack" you,I point out what is stupid in your posts. That is the nature of this board. It is wrong for you even to attempt to equate my posts with yours.
Just to be clear -- if I want to pick on you for what you post, I will, and I will do so without concern that you might try to attack me personally in response.

But, as long as we're on the subject, researchers have difficulties correlating the enzyme inhibitor activity of ASA with its action as a general analgesic in the absence of inflammation.
At least that's what NIH says. But they might be making it up.
|
So when you said they have no idea how aspirin works, you were engaging in a bit of hyperbole?
