Eh, different media, different voices. There are more liberal voices on the internet according to the last numbers I heard (I think it was NPR last week, talking about the recent organization of the left wing; yes, it was here).
I try, I really do, to listen to Democracy Now! on Pacifica every now and then. A friend of mine calls it the Doom and Gloom Network. I can't disagree with him. Let them have talk radio. Ours is useless.

Good god, Amy Goodman has got to be the most strident, annoying voice on the radio. Even when I agree with her she pisses me off.

Howard, as he ages, needs to drop the bimbo-quotient. It is starting to be just sad. And now that you mention it, politically he has become pretty much a Dem mouthpiece. He actually lets Mikey Moore blather on like he has something truthful to say.

Of course, if you read the article, you learn no proposal is yet on the table. This is just the Rs trying to rouse the troops, and since Americans generally agree with the Ds on all the bills on the floor, they're making one up.
|
“It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine,” said Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). “I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they’re in a better position to make a decision.”
How is Sen. Durbin (D) crying in public an attempt by "R's to rouse the troops"?
Does EvilCheneyRove have a hand in Dick's back too?

So that quote from Durbin was made up by Republicans?

I like to listen to Christopher Lydon. That's my talk radio.
As to the rest of them, whenever subjected to them, it just helps me realize why so many Americans think the world was created in the last 10,000 years as described in the Bible.

Read it again. He didn't say anything about talk radio.
|
So he's talking about less Top40, more Alt/Country?

Television and print media is so uber-left, why would they bother?

I've always thought that Warren Olney could probably use a good ass-kicking. Isn't he PRI/Pacifica?

I hate the sound of Garrison Keillor's voice now. It grates. It makes me cringe. It irritates my eardrums.
Does this affect my presumed political affiliation?

Dunno. Haven't listened to it since I left Houston. I used to listen to it because it had the BBC news on when I drove to work, but if I was running late (not an unusual occurrence) I'd be stuck listening to Democracy Now. Listening to that allowed me to understand slave's reaction to liberals.

I'm right there with you on that one. I time my dogs' morning walk to coincide with The Writer's Almanac, just so I don't have to hear him talk.

a) People hear what's cheapest to produce and sells the most ads.
b) People hear a variety of views.
If there's a credible source for this -- by which I do not mean Sen. Inhofe talking about what he heard someone saying in an elevator -- then I'd like to hear it, because any Dems thinking that are pathetic.
eta: Note that The Hill's reporter didn't find Dems saying this, though this could just be a function of the market forces which impel him to run stories handed to him by official sources (read: Republican Congressmen) instead of doing actual reporting.

Why should our radio airwaves be highjacked by the 2 party system that has highjacked our government? In practice, what would happen is that there would be a DEM view and a GOP view, and at some point these would become proxies (even more so than they currently are) for the 2 parties. On top of that, the fairness doctrine is obsolete in that there are now so many different distribution channels for ideas, such that the fact that one medium may be "controlled" by one ideology (e.g., radio) does not prohibit other views from being distributed via other mediums (e.g., print).

anyone with antitrust views on the XM Sirius merger? I can see problems with it, but the reality of the market is that it is heavily cars, and each manufacturer is picking one platform or the other. I would like to see them co-operate enough to at least have a common platform so you can pick one or the other, or both, for your car.
I mean there are people probably not buying GM and getting Chrsyler because they like howard better than O&A.
