Given that Tenet was a registered Democrat and the DCI under Clinton, it's hard to believe that he lasted as long as he did. Then add to that 9/11, the missing WMD, and so on. But all of that has been out for a while. So what's about to come out that might have added to this? I read that the CIA is about to get blasted by a Senate committee, so maybe that's it.

FWIW, I heard on the radio this morning that the pressure was about to get even worse on Tenet because word was the Senate Intelligence Cmte was about to blast the CIA in their report, and that the 9/11 commission report would be out soon, and people would be "stunned" by how critical it would be towards the CIA.
But, sometimes Rush is a bit off on the details, so who knows.

Was he lying, or just forgetful?
I'm concerned that the leader of the free world is so forgetful. He's got a big country to run, after all. Reagan pulled it off, but he wasn't a wartime president like Bush.
Bush, yesterday:
- Q Thank you, Mr. President. Mr. Chalabi is an Iraqi leader that's fallen out of favor within your administration. I'm wondering if you feel that he provided any false information, or are you particularly --
THE PRESIDENT: Chalabi?
Q Yes, with Chalabi.
THE PRESIDENT: My meetings with him were very brief. I mean, I think I met with him at the State of the Union and just kind of working through the rope line, and he might have come with a group of leaders. But I haven't had any extensive conversations with him.
Bush, last February:
- Russert: If the Iraqis choose, however, an Islamic extremist regime, would you accept that, and would that be better for the United States than Saddam Hussein?
President Bush: They're not going to develop that. And the reason I can say that is because I'm very aware of this basic law they're writing. They're not going to develop that because right here in the Oval Office I sat down with Mr. Pachachi and Chalabi and al-Hakim, people from different parts of the country that have made the firm commitment, that they want a constitution eventually written that recognizes minority rights and freedom of religion.
Last November:
- President Bush says he had a "good talk" for about 30 minutes November 27 with four members of Iraq's Governing Council at Baghdad International Airport, following his surprise meeting with U.S. troops there.
Briefing the White House press pool accompanying him on Air Force One as he returned to the United States after the two-and-one-half-hour stop in Baghdad, Bush said he and L. Paul Bremer, the U.S. administrator of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, met with Jalal Talibani, the current president of the council, Raja Habib Khuzaii, Ahmed Chalabi, and Mowaffak Rubaie.
Bush with Chalabi and others on Thanksgiving:

I don't have time right now to go through the Chalabi's allegations point-by-point, but they seem absurd on their face. Looks more like Chalabi's looking for a scapegoat.

To my knowledge, I am not related* to anyone who owns an SUV.
I would imagine that one, or maybe both, cousins from one branch(sisters) have them, though. Possibly a couple others, though, since they do construction, it might more likely be actual trucks. Or, because they are small-time criminals, they may not really have any kind of vehicle right now what with being stuck in a cell someplace.
*I mean, you know, in the sense of a reasonably small-sized family tree. After all, we are all descended from Adam and Eve and we are brothers and sisters in Christ.

Chalabi has been looking to dump Tenet for a long time, but he didn't want to appear to be scapegoating.

Why did the left change its stance on what it calls personal freedom regarding cigarettes and cigars? What was the logic? And please, if you are on the left, would you answer this question for me? How come the only organ the left insists be chaste is the lung? What is this pulmocentrism? Why are lungs so special? Why can't you endanger your own lungs? Why don't you care as much about livers? Don't the Democrats have a liver lobby?

Better to keep sovereign to be thought a nuclear power than to permit inspections and remove all doubt. Lincoln may have said it, but Saddam Hussein lived it.

That explains restrictions on place of use. It does not explain confiscatory taxation to reduce use altogether.
