Unrelated, but interesting (to me anyways) blub from a practice area listserv: The New York Times reported in an article on October 1 that the Administration has lost its third official in charge of the nation's cybersecurity in approximately a year and a half. Richard Clarke resigned in February 2003, his replacement resigned in April 2003 and the current cyber chief resigned September 30. The current official explained that he was leaving the post after only one year because he had accomplished his objectives.

As to the car comment, some of us own large SUVs, and this oil silliness makes driving my turck to Wawa to get a diet Sunkist terrifically expensive. I've had to combine my soda and burrito buying trips into one trip.

Setting yourself on fire is probably the single stupidest protest I've ever heard of. Its like people hanging themselves. "Hmmmm, what would be the most painful and scary way to commit suicide? I want that..."

That's a great site, but it really exagerates the data, I think. The guy takes the data from polls and assumes that the electoral votes will go that way. He has many states all over the place, constantly switching back and forth between red and blue. Maybe the new methodology will help, but he needs to smooth and slow the shift to better reflect changing information, not exagerate it. But still a great site...
