Are we there yet?
Hi all. Hope this really is home this time. Had a brief period earlier when the system wouldn't let me post (and let me tell you, I would have posted some profound shit). Seems to be working now.

Suits
I'm cheap, but I need a black suit. What's the cheapest (brand-wise) I can go w/out the suit looking cheap? BB? Kenneth Cole? Help me.
BTW: great site.

Not what I would have done.

What's your general size? If you're a little portly around the middle, a BB suit will do fine. Unless you've got a great tailor, I wouldn't buy BB off the rack if you're an athletic fella.
That being said, the BEST way for you to find a nice, non-cheap looking suit is to head to someplace like Nordstrom Rack (my fav), Century 21 (if you're near NY), or Filene's. They often have GREAT bargains on designer suits.
If you don't have one of those in your area, try the department stores. Hart Schaffner & Marx makes some pretty decent, reasonably priced suits. I don't like Kenneth Cole, CK, Boss, and Lauren, but that's because I'm old-fashioned and, to me, those companies are better at selling their names than at designing quality clothing.

My friends buy great Jones NY suits that never look cheap. The fabrics are beautiful and the cuts in the golden fleece (I think that's what it's called but I don't buy men's suits) line are tailored for a more athletic man's body (broad shoulders, tapered waist).

Thanks for the reply. I'm a 41L, 32 waist and I'm a Pisces!
I'm in Chicago and Filene's is always a good place for bargains. No Century 21 though. I know there's a Nordstrom's RACK around here somewhere. I do like HSM suits...

Actually, I just tried a Jones suit on at Marshall Fields and it fit great. $450 but they were having a $100 off all suits sale...thanks for the reply.

Here's what you're gonna do (if you have a car, anyway). You're going to get in that car after work and take the Kennedy north out of town. Then, you're going to follow 94 when the kennedy and the edens split. Follow the Edens north and then stay on Hwy 41 when it splits from 94. Then, just before you get to the lake cook road exit (which is right after 41 and 94 split), look to your left and you'll see a Nordstrom Rack. Then, take the Lake Cook Road exit and make your way over ther.
I guarantee you will find a great suit there for around $200-400 bucks. Every time I go there, I pick up a new Hickey-Freeman in that price range.

May not have been clear, but nordstrom rack. I have 4 HFs in my closet (I got nothing on pony_trekker). Three of them were purchased for under $400. The other was a custom, so......

You only shop there because you think you'll run into some hot chick named Beth Nordstrom.

Suits
Saks Off 5th is my currently favorite suit store. I bought a Hiockey Freeman there for 50% off a month ago. Beautiful suit.
