Look, there is a certain fun in playing with gasoline and explosives. I've enjoyed it first hand, before I'd ever even read HST, whilst as you say, I was "drugged and drunken." Its actually kind of fun, but I admit, its got a very limited audience. And it isn't fun when you singe off all the hair on your legs and the front of your face when you mistake gas for lighter fluid
|
Sure its fun, until you singe your taint trying to out blueflame an aggressive pledge. Thing is after 6 years of drinkin, druggin and explodin I was sort of over it. Its even less attractive when a 60 year old has been sharkjumper is doing it.

|
Yeahright. I forgot, he was the head of libertarians for nader in 00 and Libertarians for Kerry in 04. Thanks for setting me straight. Old O'rourke is fine, but he has become a characture of his past self. sort of the Dave Barry of rolling stone. I'd rather read Andrew Sullivan or Anne Coulter.

Good Death Pool Fallout
The Pope is about dead, and once that happens it'll be another DP that I don't have any chance of winning and it's only February.
But one good thing about this pool is I've linked to the NYT obits- the daily roll call of the briefly famous is just a great read- like today
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/02/24/na...derickson.html
I remember her. Plus the actress from the 40's version of Cat People bought it. Although not sucessful in this pool on the surface, I do feel the experience has been positive for me simply because of the exposure to the obits.
Thank you ncs.

What happens in the interPope period after this one dies but before the next one is selected? How can humanity continue without a bridge to God?

Hmmmmm, F&L in LV was my favorite of his (sorry, Sebby, you are wrong, but I think its probalby bc you are the kinda guy who always hates the hit single). It is also one of the only books I have read more than twice. maybe only one of two now that I htink of it. However, the first time I read it, was before I had ever taken mushrooms and I didn't quite get it. The times I have read it subsequent have been post hallucinatory drugs. Which might explain why Atticus doesnt get it and apparently this straight laced megalosock. So I think that one might not be for you. Like do you think the line "jesus, where are these goddammed bats coming from " is funny standing alone? bc I do.
you might like Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail which had parts as good as Las Vegas but was much much longer so there is some stuff in there that I think didnt need to be there. But I think you could dig it. Plus there is some minnesota referneces ( I think), though i read it when i was nineteen or twenty and never reread it.

ASPEN, Colo. - The widow of journalist Hunter S. Thompson said her husband killed himself while the two were talking on the phone.
“I was on the phone with him, he set the receiver down and he did it. I heard the clicking of the gun,” Anita Thompson told the Aspen Daily News in Friday’s editions.
Sounds a little selfish.

Legacy. That says it all. Tool.
I figured you to be the guy-we-didn't-want-to-let-in-but-had-to who then turns out to be the biggest hazer in the house.
I never hazed a soul. Gayest shit ever. Right up your alley.

He's been known to enjoy a Shirley Temple when he wants to get a little crazy.

Query
Is it too late for changes? If not, I'd like to add gattigap [sniff] as a pick. I know he's not really a celebrity, but he was, I mean is, counsel to the sock stars. That should count for something.

It's a little suspicious that you know that the serial killer keeps them alive for at least a day after capture.
