2 sports questions
1- for home field determinations what is the tie-breaker, head-to-head or divisional record?
2- what happened to this USA Basketball team with Coach K? It was on the news leading into the tournament, now I swear I can't find out what happened in the tournament. My google abilities are fading

1) Head to head determines division champion. Don't know the tiebreaker between divisional winners. Prob. also head to head.
2) Lost in semis to Greece(!). Beat argentina for bronze.

Between creationism and string theory, you've become quite the advocate of fake science.

I had a vision 6 months ago and an 80 foot Jesus told me string theory was bunk.

Enough of the depressing stuff

I know that we at the FB do not generally engage in excruciatingly correct behavior (sssh, here she comes), but we also don't generally discuss one another's looks unless the poster has brought it up him- or herself or it's a recurring joke or line of comment.
More specifically, I do realize that in the past SB has brought up the topic of her own cuteness and that she and TM have gone back and forth about the fact that she was bringing it up (which may put this into the "recurring joke" category), but that was a long time ago and you didn't seem to be doing it in that vein. If that's how you meant it, I will put the wrist-slapping ruler away.

Okay, I did not describe her in detail I was very general and vauge and that wasn't outable so where am I in the wrong here?
I think it is hypocritcal since although I subjected myself to a critique people went to town with excruciating detail about floppy tits this and that which I thought was misleading and wrong.

It wasn't so much the performance last night (although it was really bad) that should get you guys worried, it's the press conference afterward where he said he had no strength in his legs to locate his pitches and no confidence in his stuff. And he practically asked to be the 3rd starter. That ain't good.

I don't understand the question. We finished in third, losing to Greece, who then went on to get stomped by Argentina or Spain by like 30. Is that what you wanted to know?

Yankees have it through the Series then, absent dropping 3.

I was away at a youth b-ball tournament and disconnected from the news.
I know no entire NBA team will ever agree to be the Olympic team, or this National team, but really someone needs to get past throwing 12 scoring stars together.
In the Olympics we lost because no one would guard the 3 point line. Some team broke the Olympic record for 3s against the USA- at a time when the Pistons and Spurs were the two best NBA teams and either team would have shut down any of these national teams.
Whoever coaches next time need to bring some defensive role players.

This should probably be on Politics, but here we go.
- David (Philadelphia): When are you going to write a column about the US hoops team? Even an offhanded "I told you so" would be nice (Mens not Womens, just to be clear, since I know you were equally surprised that a team of WNBA superstars didn't win the gold either)
Bill Simmons: You know, I was going to write about it the following week, but I only got about 40 emails about it. I just don't think anyone cares. Same for the Ryder Cup. We know expect to lose these competitions, no matter what the sport is. I blame President Bush. We were a dominant world power athletically until he took over. Now we're a laughingstock. if he were a GM, we would have fired him by now.

Bad Hank. Bad Fringey.

I agree with the SportsGuy on this one. It's like we're playing a different sport. If we had FIBA rules as NBA rules, our players would know the nuances of the game and how best to spread the floor and defend against the advantages the different set of rules brings. And if we played by NBA rules internationally, we would destroy absolutely every team out there by 30.
Someone explain to me why FIBA has a different set of rules anyway.
