OK, then where is a good place downtown, preferably, for a man to get a good haircut without spending $100?

Turns out that fats are healthier.
- In a decided majority of studies, groups of people labeled "overweight" by current standards are found to have equal or lower mortality rates than groups of supposedly ideal-weight individuals. University of Virginia professor Glenn Gaesser has estimated that three-quarters of all medical studies on the effects of weight on health between 1945 and 1995 concluded either that "excess" weight had no effect on health or that it was actually beneficial. And again, this remains the case even before one begins to take into account complicating factors such as sedentary lifestyle, poor nutrition, dieting and diet drugs, etc. "As of 2002," Gaesser points out in his book Big Fat Lies, "there has not been a single study that has truly evaluated the effects of weight alone on health, which means that 'thinner is healthier' is not a fact but an unsubstantiated hypothesis for which there is a wealth of evidence that suggests the reverse."

go to Chinatown. first or second street parallel to Canal is full of barbers. $8 a cut BUT you have to take what they give. It's hard to explain what you want.

As usual, I will answer with a non-fashion driven response. I like the Brooks Bros. no-iron shirts. Primarily because they don't need to be ironed (or laundered if you are a lazy person with money to waste). They now seem to some in additional colors and patterns too, which is an improvement.

You missed a crucial element in the question. The shirts must be cut so they lie well under an Abboud suit. Totally different cuts, which Pony also stated. Classic and generous cut shirts.

Aren't Abboud suits fairly boxy/generous?

You should do fine with Tyrwhitt or Pink. Brooks Brothers would look okay, but they don't hold up nearly as well. Abboud is one of those designers who works well with a broad range of others.
You should do well with just about any maker.

Yes. I'm worried more that it will look odd to wear a fairly traditional/fitted shirt with that kind of suit.
Maybe I need to buy a whole bunch of new suits in a more traditional cut, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Equal quality in material. Be cautious about the cut in either. Pink is in the midst of their annual sale. try them out. tyrwhitt runs internet 3 for 2 specials.
Hugo Boss would fit well with an Abboud Cut.

Zegna would fit well with an Abboud cut.

I like Brooks but they are more "classic" and might not fit well with the suits...more boxy...
Yes, nordstrom shirts are nice.
|
Zegna will not work well with your body type, and the cost is ridiculous for the shirts. A Zegna suit makes sense, because it will last you 10-15 years. Shirts should always be viewed as disposable, and spending $250-500 on a disposable item of clothing is a dumb move.
It's the sort of stupid thing an investment banker would do.

No, you assumed that I cared about that portion of the question. Big mistake.

Does anyone else think the Tyrwhitt shirts are ridiculously long?
I have some T.M. Lewin shirts that I like, but I think you can only get them in the UK or online.

Then try Tyrwhitt. They aren't as "slim cut" as Pink but not as boxy as Brooks. My feeling is boxy and boxy will make you look shapeless. as well, you are right, slim cut and boxy will look oddly proportioned.
The Hugo Boss ones could work as well. Pink also offers different cuts. some not as slim

I wouldn't call them boxy, but they are fuller cut than many other designers. They wouldn't look good on a skinny-ass mofo like you.

What's wrong with Abboud shirts? Any reason to stray from them?
