It's interesting that I think this is the place Cheney did the best, softening his image and becoming very human. If the R's want to turn this thing around, they should get Cheney out on the stump with his daughter.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, too, but doesn't Edwards have a vote that Cheney would want and should be seeking, where if the Dems are looking for Cheney's vote on a tie-breaker the discussions are not likely to be driven by Edwards but by the elected Senate leadership? Isn't what Cheney really said when he did this that he's not doing his job, the job of reaching out across the aisle to build a consensus?
If the two of them haven't had a substantive discussion in any of their meetings, it strikes me that's Cheney's problem.

38. Beauty Is As Beauty Does
Gilligan suggests a beauty contest to decide which of the three women will become "Ms. Castaway." Mr. Howell attempts to sabotage the other contestants by spreading glue on the stage before Mary Ann's big dance scene, and by shooting spit-wads at Ginger while she performs. The Professor then distorts the music when it is Mrs. Howell's turn. Then, when all the competitions are complete, the final decision rests with the judge.....Gilligan!

I thought it was interesting that God didn't come up at all in this. Nothing on faith based initiatives on the domestic front, nothing on abstinance education programs to counter rising HIV rates in the black female population (which I'm pretty sure that question was aimed at), nothing on abortion, a pass after his initial comments on the gay marriage thing, nothing on anything that pandered to the wingnut base that is so important to the GOP. Cheney isn't exactly the Religious Right spokesmodel, but it seemed that he totally ignored that constituancy.

I don't usually read politics, but I'm glad I peeked in today. This is a real turning point for you. I think we can all agree that instead of trying to articulate your own ideas, you should stick to quoting these Gilligan's island synopses. It's a real improvement.

GI quotes on GGG is an entire genre for me, and has been for awhile. Think - you and variations on "Taxwonk is fat." I'm running out though, and may need to switch to ?, something.

I, for one, would be very sad to see the GI quotes go away.

Watch the stories about Cheney's disregard for the truth over the next few days. People have already posted on the web a story about Cheney and Edwards attending a breakfast together, and apparently there's a photograph of the two of them. So much for the "we've never met" attack.
eta:

Cheney's got a little truth problem.
|
He's passing by him.
I've walked by a lot of people I've never met.
eta: yes, there's also a still shot out there of them sitting together. Again, how many dinners have you been to where you didn't know the suit next to you?

Maybe someone who was alive in 1968?

Cheney also introduced him at some talk thing or something. Yes, it is possible that although he introduced him and handed over the floor to him, they were not formally introduced. But that would be hair splitting that I would hope is beneath even you.

I know, that in a saner, quieter place in your life, you were able to appreciate things like context. Please strive to find that place again.

During the pilot of "Lost" I found myself inadvertantly humming the theme to GI.

Uh, he's a Senator, Slave. It's a pretty limited population, so the "stranger in a suit I had to eat with" thing is an odd defense here.

He is also the lack of soul in the operation. Lucky us.
