I've Been Scammed!

You do it for the same reason most people do it. Traditionally, bartenders, waiters, shoeshine guys, etc. have been tipped, because they provide a service above and beyond simply handing you some merchandise and collecting your money.

Somewhere along the line, counter help started getting the idea that they were entitled to tips, too. Enough people just automatically dropped cash in the cup or jar or whatever that it's becoming more common.

I think it's bullshit. If I were the kind of customer who went to Starbucks, sat at the tables, left my shit for the emloyees to clean up, I'd leave a tip. But I walk in, get a cup of coffee, walk out. What extra value do they provide that justifies a tip?
my daughter finished a job as counter help at a pizza joint a few months ago. I am now free to reveal that hardly anyone tips. she'd get like $6-10 in a 5 hour shift.

Like I bet gilligan would tip, but the professor wouldn't.

Really.

Thanks.

PS you kinda win on the whole "I think people look like their avatars" thing. Other than you are headless, one-armed and legless.
I was thinking "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," my own self. Especially effective if you replace Chris Farley with Meatloaf in Sebby's original post.

I put a line straight through it in every circumstance unless I am sitting down and being served.

The lead singer poured fake blood on himself in some sort of act of solidarity with Ben Harper, who apparently earlier that day had had a bad nosebleed. He asked for tampon donations to help stop the bleeding.

I was standing with a friend of mine who'd just returned from Burning Man the week before was reduced to tears by "Do You Realize." He may have still had drugs in his system from Burning Man. Or he may have brought some shrooms with him. He said he just really liked the song. It wasn't really that bad, so he probably wasn't on drugs given your previous advice on the subject.
I love the sound painting on Yoshimi. "Do You Realize" sounds unreal in surround sound. Pick up the special cd/dvd edition of Yoshimi. The surround sound edition of DYR is wild, and it has great, senseless graphic to go with it. On a high def LCD panel, its really cool.

My boyfriend does occasionally remind me of Chris Farley. I think I have mentioned this before. But not Meatloaf.

You're a hard one to read at times... And fwiw, there'd be nothing wrong with digging a high speed jackhammering. Some people like it mixed, but there's nothing wrong with liking your poison straight up, neat, 150 proof.

And the widening of the lane and the liberal calling of 3 seconds is HUGE. All of our post players are much bigger, stronger and more athletic and if you move them further from the basket and keep them out of the lane, what the fuck good are they? You need a big man who can play a zone and has great outside shooting skills to succeed. And guess what? That's not what any NBA team is built around. Tell me who would guard Shaq or even Brand if the lane was NBA regulation under FIBA rules.

And just think about how ingrained goal tending is in the NBA. If we could touch the ball once it hit the rim in the NBA and carried this new skill over to international play, it would vastly cut down scoring.

These are major differences. And it's basically a different, jump shooting, stationary-passing game.

TM
I agree with almost all of this. Of course they couldn't guard Shaq, but the key (although if he could only travel he could overcome even this) and the calls kill him. I just think a well-selected team of NBA guys could overcome all that. But we pick the teams based upon what they do in the NBA. Hell T, National play is a good reason to keep JJ Redick in the league for awhile.

99% of what I say on this board is not serious. That is the guideline.

However, I am telling the truth about certain subjects such as ppnyc making my skin crawl, ncs being the bestest internet gf ever and my boyfriend being well-endowed. Basically the rest is bullshit.
