Wow! This is better then Wimbledon. The teams, the sportsmanship, the incredible athleticism!

Shall we take it to another thread so as not to annoy Paigow with info about the winners before she has a chance to go home and watch the replay on OLN?

Anne

I really need a road bike.

Except that like only three or four people are into the TdF. How about, Lawtalkers- where we post links to news stories you saw on Yahoo two hours ago?

And yes, I know there are probalby more TdF fans here than tennis, though I could not explain why. Its just pedaling. Whats the strategy? Choosing between going as fast as you can or saving it for the end? To quote E/O, "yawn"

Note to self: Do not ever invite Paigow to a NASCAR race -- she just wouldn't understand.

Do stalker-types ever get what they (supposedly) want? Is it actually possible to coerce your object of desire into being your beloved?

Part of the reason why I ask this is because I went out on a first (and last) date with a guy on Friday night. He's a nice guy but I wasn't really interested and he'd also already displayed some signs of being a little wacky. He called me later in the evening, on his way home, and left me a voicemail asking me out again over the weekend (even though I'd tried to make it clear I was busy). He called again on Saturday morning and left me another message. When I didn't return the calls by early Saturday afternoon, he sent me an email expressing his disappointment with my lack of responsiveness.

Fine, whatever. I know this tactic doesn't work on me but does it ever work on anybody? Do people seriously confuse neediness of this caliber for desire?

Of all people, I'd have thought you'd appreciate the Bea Arthur line...

It shouldn't be a blow to her self-esteem to realize that a married man was not so overwhelmed by her beauty (of which he's only caught glimpses, anyway) that he was willing to cheat.

If her self-esteem would suffer, you would want to stay very far away, anyway, wouldn't you?

The line "I won't be ignored" comes to mind, for more reasons than one.
I don't know if she saw it or not, but it was visible for anybody to see. It's on my left hand, which is the hand away from where she was sitting (I was reading at the time also). I would think that she would look for it before approaching me, though.

These points and e/o's question are the kinds of things I need to consider. I don't think I want to call her because Mrs. Hand might not be so understanding of that if she ever found out. I'll probably see the young lady again soon, so right now I think I'd prefer to deal with it in person. I don't want to come off as a jerk, but with all due respect to her, I'm more concerned about my wife's feelings...

It's a team sport that no one can truly win alone. Once you see how the teams, and the individuals within them, are constantly weighing their actions now and their predictions of their future actions against each other, it's a truly compelling psychological drama.

Also a human one--like Vinokourov virtually coming out of nowhere this season and this Tour in memory of his countryman, Kivilev, who was killed earlier this year in a race.

Paigow-

I have not turned against you, but after the Wimbledon rants (which I would have agreed with if I wasn't listening to the live action at wimbledon.org) I don't want to give any info about the stage results away. I may get hit with an umbrella or something if I let slip who holds the yellow jersey or who won the stage.

Today's stage was amazing. I'm a relative newbie to the TdF, and have finally figured out why you don't go as fast as you can all the time. The intellectual athlete in me is loving this race.

Anne

PS If Lance can't win I want it to be Vinokourov.

Edited to add PS

She saw it. I am married and thus am not looking for anyone but I cannot help but check out the wedding-ring hand of any man or woman I come into contact with (even from a distance). I cannot explain why this is but every woman I have ever asked about this has admitted to the same.

Whatever you do, if you do call her, make sure any call is initiated from a non-caller ID phone -- imagine your surprise when in response to you "I am not interested call" she starts calling your home/work/cell.

Sounds creepy and desperate to me. As a "lovely parting gift", may I suggest sending him a copy of the DVD for "Swingers"... I think he'll get the message when he gets to the scene where Trent and Sue explain the rules on when to call a young lady back after a date or getting her phone number.

Two days is industry standard. Three days is money.

I know, I know, I'm not following these rules, but my situation is a wee bit different...

I love Lance (since he is our hometown hero), and I am a huge Jan fan. Tyler's performance has been superhuman, and I have always had a soft spot for Christophe Moreau (who seems to be returning to form).
