Another TCOTU question.

We didn't do that, but we did go to Union Square Park and then to the Strand, which was not as impressive as I'd been led to believe, though that would have been difficult, and I was hung over, so maybe it was. Then we walked south on Lafayette to a place my FIL likes, but it was closed, so we walked around the corner and had lunch at Ruby's, on Mulberry between Spring and Price, and I liked it so much that I'm writing this post. It's a hole in the wall, apparently a hang-out for Aussie expats. Good food and a good vibe.

We were in the thatre district once and jumped into some Chinese place for a quick dinner. The menu was really really long- and the striking part was in the center was a 10 pages diatribe against the chicken served in most restaurants, including the one I was at. It offered specially raised chicken that would be more flavorful and healthier. I ordered the special chicken, maybe with garlic buds. But it was incredibly good.

I couldn't find the place again though. That's my problem in TCOTU. I never try to remember the name of ballpark location. I do know the soup dumplings at the furtherest back rightmost restaurant in Chinatown (from Little Italy perspective) are to die for.

New York sounds exciting! But also a little scary . . . .

No more bong hits 4 Jesus

Bummer.

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court tightened limits on student speech Monday, ruling against a high school student and his 14-foot-long "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" banner.

Schools may prohibit student expression that can be interpreted as advocating drug use, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the court in a 5-4 ruling. (a close one)

Joseph Frederick unfurled his homemade sign on a winter morning in 2002, as the Olympic torch made its way through Juneau, Alaska, en route to the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

"The message on Frederick's banner is cryptic," Roberts said. "But Principal Morse thought the banner would be interpreted by those viewing it as promoting illegal drug use, and that interpretation is plainly a reasonable one."

World's tallest couple

Basketball star Yao Ming, the 7' 6" center for the Houston Rockets, will marry his girlfriend after eight years of dating, Chinese state press reported Monday.

Yao, 27, plans to marry Ye Li, 25, in a private ceremony – possibly in their home city of Shanghai, China, AFP reports.
The 6' 2" Ye plays basketball for China's national team, but has battled injuries in recent years.

She's 6'2" and she still looks short.
Of course, I'd come up to about his elbow in that pic.

Poor thing. Yao can't do much around the hole.

I hear a court in DC also ruled that dry cleaners are free to stick it to their customers. Grim times all around.

eta: Why does Yao have two chins?

Listen, my social and moral conscience is pretty well-tuned, and I'm not going to just sit here while Ty spouts hatred towards millionaire giants and NBA groupies. I just won't stand for it. I'm sorry the board had to suffer, but I'll call Ty out on that everytime.

I think it should be "every time" not "everytime."

Ty is one bitter getting-old man. first the Redsox have that curse, and lately it's becoming obvious there is a curse on the Celtics from when Parris sucker punched Laimbeer. They suck, and they screw up draft choice after draft choice. Red's ghost should go to Parrish in his dreams and ask him to have a news conference and ask Laimbeer to forgive him- far too late? Certainly, but it would be a start.
