Sure, it had some funny quotes, and the best use of Curtis Armstrong* with the exceptions of "Risky Business," "Moonlighting," and, uh, the first "Revenge of the Nerds." But there was just some really stupid shit in that movie. The Claymation interlude at the burger shop? The rocket launching out of the garage at the end? Ricky's mom blowing up? All of the scenes with Lane's mom, esp. the one with the Christmas outfits? Pure shit.
This is one '80s comedy that does not stand repeated watching.

And it had to come on a day that I'm stuck in the office because of flooded streets. Okay, I'm not stuck in the office, but it's a choice between here and being stuck in traffic. Given that choice, I agree with you re: A-Rod and the mvp award, whatever your point was.

Bachelorette to wed

"Their wedding will be broadcast on ABC in December, the finale of three episodes dealing with the preparations and their "bachelor" and "bachelorette" parties. "
"Sutter, chosen by Rehn from 25 suitors, said he plans to return to his job as a firefighter in Vail, Colo., in January. He wasn't sure what his bride would be doing."
Doesn't know what his bride will be doing when he returns to Colorado? Can we make any more of a joke out of marriage in this country?

Inside scoop has it that at the bachelor party (taped several weeks ago), the network arranged for strippers to spice tings up a little, without Ryan's advance knowledge. When they tried to get a little fresh with him (again, I think with the encouragement of ABC), he left, pissed. Now Ryan's camp is worried that the editing process will make it look like he left with the strippers.
Also, Ryan's friends are supportive and would never come right out and say this, but I think the general sense is that Trista is not good enough for him.

Dawn of the Dead
New topic, I'm bored.
What do horror afficianados think of this remake? Pissed off? Hopeful? Horrified? Filled with a desire to burn heretics?
FWIW:
http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=13363 - has a review of a copy of the script. Sounds very different from the original, which is a Good Thing. There sounds like there is some potential for interesting social commentary, if different from that of the original, if they don't fuck it up. But they will. Note: Spoilers.
http://www.allthingszombie.com/movies/dawnofthedead.php Site with some rumors/news links.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Alex Rodriguez became the second player from a last-place team to win a Most Valuable Player award, then confirmed that the Texas Rangers have approached him about a possible trade.
How does that happen? Doesn't part of being a valuable player require that you caused your team to win games?
[Yes, I hate baseball and discussions about baseball, but today is already on record as the boringest day ever, so this should seal the deal.]

I was hoping for Kaz Matsui and Vlad Guerrero, but now I'm thinking the Yanks end up with A-Rod and Sheffield

Gift Suggestions
For you obnoxious shits that have already begun the gift gathering process for the winter holidays, please note that I write with my left hand. Do not give me fountain pens because I have no use for them. The ink smudges all over the page, gets on my hand and then, inevitably, on my clothes. If I wanted my pants to have smudges in the crotch and on the ass, I would purchase them that way.

I was the guy in the same restaurant who didn't notice them, but who they kept noticing as I wined and dined. And twisted and turned. Etc. They kept squirming and turning in their chairs when they caught a glimpse of me, so I heard after the fact. Guys, I'm sorry that I gave rise to all these feelings in you, but I'm definitely straight. Ant twat. Lol. I invented that. All the other shit I have to say at the end of a post like this.
Fwiw, numerically mmm3587 = 3,587,000,000. It's right in my name. I'm not sure how this works in your scale. I am sure that I get additional points for my martini glass chest hair and my martini olive eyes and my ginnish* wit.
*Biting, but can be overpowered by tonic.
As you were.

More importantly, how do they release a top-notch DVD edition of the sub-par "Day of the Dead" when the superior "Dawn" is out of print?

I got you some stuff at a rumage sale in September. I like to do all my holiday shopping over the course of the year, leave it wrapped in the moldy basement for a few months, and then ship it off without being sure what I am shipping to whom.
I think I got you a nice picture of Roy and Montecorre. No, maybe I got you some reptile beanie bags. No, wait a minute, I'm sure I got you a vintage 1989 globe. Anyway, happy holiday-of-your-choice.

Either
(a) addiction to prescription painkillers results in weight loss
or
(b) having Al Franken write a book entitled "[YOUR NAME HERE] is a Big Fat Idiot" inspires weight loss.
If option (b) is correct, Rush should write a thank you note to Mr. Franken.
