You already knew this, but ... Pedro is a tool.

Speaking of Boston, I would have like to have observed Anne's practice sessions on the handsless beer gulp. That could have been good times.

I was all ready to go to your post and find something about how women with large, full breasts and flat stomachs are attractive. But it was all "they should use this format"? That's nowhere near as good as Pamela's format. Too bad she is a little haggard up top unless she really cakes on the makeup.

And nothing in the article more clearly reveals that he is a little prima-donna bitch than this:

"I told [Henry], 'You want to sign me, get it done. Please force them to get it done. I'm willing to stay here. Negotiate with them. I just don't want to be under Schilling," Martinez said.

He also said he deserved a better deal than Schilling.

"Schilling is 38, I'm only 33," he said. "The fact that I had an off-year doesn't mean that I can be below Schilling. Still, with an off-year, I'm way over Schilling as a pitcher and I've pitched pretty much like Schilling the last few years, if you're going to talk about durability."

I can't wait until he has to step into the batter's box again in the NL. What a total punk.

Yes, Pedro is a tool. The fact that he spent the press conference whining about how Boston didn't want him enough was a low moment for him. We're not all that upset that he is gone.

The Big Unit going to the Yankees? Well, it would be interesting to see him and Schilling face off against each other. For some unexplained reason I hate Randy Johnson more than I dislike the Yankees. I'd like to see him end up pitching for some miserable second tier team. Of course they would promptly sell him to the Yankees for cash but the press conference with Expos/Nationals/Brewers/etc. would be entertaining.

You were in Boston and didn't PM me for drinks?? For shame.

Yeh, he's arrogant as hell now. On the other hand, his career ERA is significantly lower than Schilling and he's never had a losing year (excluding 1992, when he started and lost a single game). The fact that 16-9 is an off year (OK, the 3.90 ERA is pretty miserable by Pedro standards) is itself amazing. So how do folks feel when some new associate gets a couple of prime, career enhancing projects and the associate who has given 2000 hours for five years is forgotten? Shiny penny syndrome gets to lots of people.

So, yeh, don't hire him to do PR. But it is still a loss for the Sox and a plus for the Mets.

No way he deserves a better deal than Schilling. Pedro came down off his pedestal a few seasons ago. When he gets shelled in the first two innings of a game it's embarassing. He'll usually settle down, but by then the damage has been down. Schilling is consistent, Pedro is not.

Fuck, at my firm "the associate who has given [only] 2000 hours for five years" isn't even an associate anymore. All that stuff is interpersonal relationships, anyway. People want to work with subordinates who will blow smoke up their asses.

If I liked sailing, I could get a bunch of good work from the "sailing" partner at my firm. That's ok, though, because the "scotch" partner (well, one of the many) keeps me busy enough.

Does your firm have a "hookers 'n blow" partner?

The Red Sox will not be the same without Pedro. And they'll be even less the same if they succeed in dumping Manny's contract, screw up negotitations with Ortiz, lose Varitek because they're cheap, cut Millar, or any combination of those.

Fortunately, they will apparently have unfrozen caveman center fielder for a while, so they'll still be entertaining.

Unfortunately, Johnson will never pitch for the Brewers (as one example), since he has a no-trade clause. And they probably won't give him that extension he's looking for. And they suck.

I was surprised to see how ESPN.com backed off the whole it's-a-done-deal thing, especially after how big a deal they made of it being pretty much a lock on SportsCenter last night.

IL(most recent Boston trip was just under 14 hours, involved no booze or depositions, and was completely devoid of fun. Stupid proto-fascist GPs) NS

That's fine. I don't really care. One of the fun things about anonymous internet contact is that I don't really have to care if some other anonymous person doesn't get my point. It might be fun to have a big fight about this today.

Spoiler:
Jen's attitude was the reason she lost, even if she was smarter, more capable, a better manager, etc. You don't think that the fact that almost every other contestant hated her was relevant?

And Pamel does have a nice body and a less impressive face. It might be a little bit gauche to talk about it that brashly, but I don't think its that big of a deal after she puts herself out there as a sex object. I'm not saying she wasn't capable.

Maybe, another spoiler:
The thing that really annoys me about this Apprentice was that there weren't really any quality female contestants. This season, Sandy was unqualified, Ivana had some judgment issues, Stacie was a little too wacky and out there, and Jen C., Maria and Stacy were all the wrong combination of saying stupid things and not really contrubuting that much. Pamela was pretty good, and I think that she should have made it further. She didn't have a great management style, though. Jen was too abrasive, and all the stuff about her dodging responsibility and losing a lot really hurt her, too, perhaps rightfully.

In comparison, I thought that Wes and Kelly were both very good. John and Chris were decent. Raj was comic relief, but generally did ok when he wasn't being a prima donna. Andy was just young, but did ok on a few things. We never really saw much of Rob or Bradford.

I didn't think that any of the contestants this season were as good as Amy, Kwame, Bill or maybe a few others last season. They picked them this season for confrontation, not ability. Maybe it makes for better tv, but it's kind of disheartening when this is all they can come up out of however many hundred thousand people apply for this.

Don't all firms? There are rumors, yeah. More blow than hookers. These fuckers are too cheap to pay for hookers regularly.
