It's a wonder that the soundstage didn't collapse from the weight.

Have you formed a symbiotic relationship with mitochondria yet? Just a hint.

Okay, you've boxed me in. I admit, it had to do with the oil pipeline through Afghanistan.

We await some suggestion -- from a reputable source, perhaps, and not just the ipse dixit of the thoroughly discredited Mr. Williams -- to the contrary, that the Clinton Administration didn't just use government funds to hire PR firms, but that it gave payola to ostensible journalists for favorable coverage. Maybe support for this will evolve out of the primordial ooze.

If I remember where I read it, you'll be the first to know, but for the record, I did not attribute this to Clinton specifically [eta] funny how you made that connection all by yourself.

It must be a really slow day if this is what you want to argue about, especially considering that I agree with you.

You're taking the heat because we're actually able to engage you in reasoned discussion, as opposed to the other Rs posting today. It's not an unusual position for you, though the Ds are being more persistent and demonstrating more exasperation with the Hank/Bilmore tactics of avoidance than is often the case.
I think that the relevant points have been made, and we're all agreed Cheney's "PR payments" are reprehensible. We're also all agreed that there is not an excuse that "everyone does it", to the extent that is ever a valid excuse, and that the WH shouldn't be getting off on this one by throwing unjustified mud at the nearest Democrat.
Oh, and just for the record, Delay is a shit.

No offense, but don't be such a pussy.
I took your suggestion. In response to Ty's question:
Quote:
I can't understand why the Administration is getting a free pass on using taxpayer funds to bribe journalists to spread a partisan message.
|
you responded
Quote:
Not to defend the administration in any way, but the answer is probably that this happens all the time in DC, under both parties
|
Nothing in your answer suggested that this was something you read but didn't believe. Rather, you posited that bribing journalists with government money is SOP, and something the Dems have done. Without telling us that you based this on an interview of Williams (who may or may not have been on the clock at the time).

I think we agree that the Admin's conduct was reprehensible. I still can't tell if you think that this is something that the Dems have done, despite the absence of evidence to the contrary.

Without checking, I believe you said something about prior administrations, and since I'm not really old enough to remember the Carter Administration, and don't particularly need to carry water for Reagan or Bush I, I decided to limit my comments to the immediately prior administration only. If you are now suggesting that you know of no reason to think that the Clinton folks did the payola thing, and that you were referring to Bush I, or Reagan, or Calvin Coolidge, just say so.

Yeah, amazing how when we are talking about something done by a Repub administration and you respond that it happens "under both parties" (or so you've read), people assume that you're talking about the Clinton admin.
Why, that's probably evidence that Clinton did exactly what Bush has done! (More evidence than you had before, anyway).

hmmm. this post shows evidence of scientific ignorance- agressive ignorance.
de-evolution is only a band concept. all change is evolution, even that which results in poorer species. like when I ran out of Gilligan episodes, and you took that as your cue to post more. Natural selection will ensure you now die out, but the change was evolution.
