No more unfunny cut and past picture posts like the above. If you want to post a funny picture like a hairless cat or some visual device to enhance a point, fine. But please, no more of these "A/V Club Specials." Nothing is worse than opening a page an finding that 90% of it is pictures which are 90% of the time pretty goddamned dull.
"Hitler... Uncle Fester"? You didn't really think those lines were funny, or that somehow, because you inserted a picture, that lame post would somehow be automatically redeemed, did you?
At least when I post crap, its just text, which takes up minimal space. Quit wasting my fucking screen space.

You can't quote AN because its overexposed. To be good, a quote or reference must be obscure to at least a portion of a the audience. I doubt there is a single breathing male alive in the United States who is not familar with AN. Worse, I used AN occasionally in the past when referring to your posts ("I... see... no... method... at all...).
If you were to quote Satisfaction, no one would respond. But quoting the fifth line in the third verse of Before They Make Me Run would probably get a few chuckles. That said, you can't pull a Dennis Miller and get too obscure or too faux-high-brow with your references because then you just sound pompous. Unless you are the Flower, who for some reason can pull that shit off. So be forwarned - if you go googling for quotes from The Stranger or Yeats' Noh Plays, you've gone too far in the other direction.
Properly utilizing the good comedic reference is a studied art. I stuggle with it constantly.

I like him (well, his music -- I don't know him personally). "Daughters" is a pretty stupid song, I grant you, but I generally like his music. Then again, I am the least cool person I know.

I am unfamiliar with this song so I just looked up the lyrics. You are correct, sir. Vile it is. However, maybe you shouldn't make those assumptions about "women" if you don't want to come off as chauvinistic yourself. I'm just sayin.

Napolean Dynamite
Saw it last night -- some amusing moments (Uncle Rico throwing a steak at Napolean and knocking him off his bike), but overall, I was Not Impressed.
I was particularly bothered by the way the script treated the internet girlfriend ("hey! let's make her black, and have her turn the geek into a thug wannabee with a doo-rag and a Mister T necklace!") and the Mexican friend ("I know -- we'll give him some scary older brothers or cousins who will look like gangstas and drive a lowrider with hydraulic lifts!").

I like John Mayer, but I really dislike that song. The first time I heard it, I kept waiting for a punch line.
"Your Body is a Wonderland," however, is fantastic. I guess this makes me a 14 year old girl. Mrs. Not Bob likes it too -- so much so that she forgave John for writing it about Jennifer Love Hewitt instead of her.
