Post I made a long time ago

After the last Stanley Cup, I wrote . . .

"Wacky wacky way out prediction:

Tonight was the last game ever of the NHL in its current incarnation. After a 2+ year work stoppage, the league will be disbanded. All contracts will be voided. Two rival leagues will spring up. Owners of NHL teams will keep the rights to the team names, some but not all of which will be used in the new leagues. Litigation will ensue over who has the right to the NHL's premiere asset, the Stanley Cup itself. Eventually the leagues will consolidate and form a new super league, with the 2 leagues going to a MLB-format with limited interleague play. This new league will re-capture the name NHL, and a new golden (jet) age will be upon us."

I'm tellin ya, it's gonna happen.

Well, at least not ones vacationing at the same spots as the hoppity one.

Anyway, just stopped by to wish everyone happy holidays.

I can relate to the shopping RealityB, I'm celebrating my first Christmas since childhood. It's much more fun than lighting 8 candles that's for sure.

Speaking of children and minding your own business, I frequently get asked the following:

1. Will you be having children?
2. How will you go about having them.

In the past, if asked question two by a woman, I have been known to respond, "I am thinking about inviting your husband over."

You know, they really don't like that answer. (Well, the men do.)

edited because poor grammar makes dtb cry.

Cool stuff

Ozomatli played our company holiday party tonight. They were cool; check out their stuff or see them live, if you like bands with 10 guys who mix rapping in English with singing in Spanish.

What sort of publicist would let his client say a single word about this, regardless of the truth of the accusation? No one looks good. Vanessa Bryant can't handle being alone with another man. Kobe Bryant can't handle matters privately, and Karl Malone has to explain something that needs no explanation to 90 percent of the rational world.

What purpose at all does it serve to draw the media's attention to this matter? I'll have to alert the media the next time I walk by a construction site.

This is the best possible way of handling the situtation. "Karl's response to Kobe's comments today is that he's a basketball player and not a soap opera actor and he doesn't intend to be involved in a personal soap opera,'' Manley said of his client.
Not to support Kobe (I agree wholeheartedly with everything TM said), but this story was all over LA sports talk radio, with people talking about a personal/non-basketball problem between Kobe and Karl, that Kobe probably had to say something.

He's still a complete ass. He and Vince Carter deserve each other; here's hoping they can form their own team -- but they'd need two balls. Go Clippers, Go Vince-less Raptors.

Season's Peevings

Attention merry-makers. When singing "The Twelve Days of Christmas," the fifth day is not not not "Five gold rings." It's golden rings, as in ring-necked pheasants. Days one through seven are all gifts of fowl. You'd think that the people trying to draw "go-old" into two syllables to fit the meter would realize something is wrong, but noooooo.

Miss Piggy, John Denver and other singing ignorami can suck it. I'll leave it to BRC to chastize the rest of you for "calling" birds.

Merry fucking X-mas.

It just goes to show you that relentless name-dropping occasionally pays off. I am moderately impressed by this bit of news. Ozo's first CD features some of the Jurassic 5 rappers.

Well, they have to pay off their attorneys' fees after being arrested at SXSW last year.

While this sucks (add it to the list!), I don't think child neglect is limited to gay parents.

I would have led them right back to the room and given them a good talking to. My wife probably would have .... well, let's just say she'd limit their reproductive options on the spot.
Uh, they are gay men. I'd say their reproductive options are already fairly limited.

Interesting. But what does any of this have to do with poop?

Doesn't that depend on whether their spouse asked Leagl about her child-bearing plans?

Music recs for 13 year old nephew

I found out over Thanksgiving that my 13 year old nephew is starting to learn how to play the guitar. He played "Sweet Home Alabama" for us. Since 13 year old boys are impossible to buy for, I thought I could get him some CDs for christmas. I'm looking for suggestions of older music that he should hear and listen to develop a musical taste and music that should inspire him to play.

So what are your top 3 cds that you think a budding guitar player should have in their collection?

Thanks for the suggestions
RL
