Music recs for 13 year old nephew

I grew up on old lps of:

Let It Be
4 Way Street
Sticky Fingers
Best of Gordon Lightfoot (Yes, I know WOTEF by heart)
Revolver
Beggar's Banquet

I turned out fine.
You grew up in the Seventies and the earliest of those records was released in 1966.

This kid was born in the 90's. Meaning Iron Maiden's debut was already 10 years old when the kid was born.

Had you said you listened to 30 year old records like Bill Haley, Chubby Checker, Fats Domino and Bobby Darin - then this would make sense.

If you can still remember all the words while drunk, you've just rocketed to the top of the crush list. That's impressive. There are so many that claim to know the words, but just start going da da da after "gloomy".

eta that I am not bad with WOTEF, but Canadian Railroad Trilogy is burned into my brain because we had to play it on the ukelele in grade 5, so it is my primary Lightfoot accomplishment.

You forget kids have no sense of time. Anything before right now is ancient history. It doesn't matter if the song came out 2, 10, or 30 years ago - it's all old to a kid.

Miss Piggy, John Denver and other singing ignorami can suck it. I'll leave it to BRC to chastize the rest of you for "calling" birds.

Merry fucking X-mas.
I feel sorry for your kids.

Owners of NHL teams will keep the rights to the team names, some but not all of which will be used in the new leagues. Litigation will ensue over who has the right to the NHL's premiere asset, the Stanley Cup itself. Eventually the leagues will consolidate and form a new super league, with the 2 leagues going to a MLB-format with limited interleague play. This new league will re-capture the name NHL, and a new golden (jet) age will be upon us."

I'm tellin ya, it's gonna happen.
If you were so sure, you should have included it in your death pool picks.

Shhh, I'm humming it and trying to make sure I'm getting all the verse right. I don't think I have it all. There are blanks. Kinda like trying to recall the Our Father quickly.

Have you seen the Discovery Channel special about EF? Great program.

I stumbled upon Hot Rocks and listened to Midnight Rambler live and liked it immediately. I didn't give a shit how old it was.

My wife's family has a bunch of cats and sometimes you get these perfect kittens that develop these really long faces and bizarre features. And others get these really attractive perfectly fat cat faces. I don't know how I'll handle watching a kid develop. Its all too much for me. I don't know if I can go through with it.
Just be selective on which cat you decide to mate with.

The key is the stumbling, though. The second an adult says "you'll love this" you've doomed the music for at least five or six years.

This is true. Cobain died when this kid was 2.

Interesting. My 17 year old brother started playing guitar a few years ago. He listens to a lot of Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers and plays songs from those cds. It kind of disturbs me that he listens to the same stuff I listned to when I was in high school, but he considers it classic rock.
