Expressions I am starting to hate

"baked in"

I hate this expression. Nobody's baking anything. When we put the agreement in the oven, then I'll be ok if someone says "baked in". Until then, find something a little less retarded. "Baked in" is the "think outside the box" of July 2004.

I haven't been high since I dated that 19 year old art student when I was 25.

Warning: smoking with art students is not recommended. Think "Friday" when Smokey is smoking angel dust with Hector.

You see, if I said the above comment, it would be referring to at least 10 years ago. With you, its probably yesterday. And probably the comment refers to some movie I've never seen. I feel old.

I've never even heard this. What the fuck is it even supposed to mean?

One phrase I'm finding never goes out of style: "Fuck that."

I am now (not) looking forward to hearing "baked in." Blech.

Does this make me old too?

Four years ago. But it feels like 10, if that makes you feel any better.

Could you use the objectionable phrase in a sentence?

All I can think of are moist, delicious brownies, with baked-in goodness. Oh, and Coltrane's double-hernia buddy, which is a thought I don't need to have.

Is this some sort of weird Canadian drug reference? I've never heard it before.

Wow - I hear this crap all the time. You all never hear it? You're so lucky. OK, in a sentence.

me: I think we need a rep that they'll notify us if they are aware they're in breach.

client: I think that's already baked in to the agreement. There's a notification requirement in section 1(a).

blah blah blah

(of course, I would never miss a notification requirement. never)

Oh, another way of saying included or contained. How asinine.

Maybe it actually started as a not-so-veiled allusion to the evil weed and so it's supposed to be funny and subversive for lawyer types to say it, kind of like, wink wink, I know I seem buttoned up to you, like a dork who uses consultant-speak because he thinks it sounds clever, but that's deliberate and therefore ironic, and by the way, I'm really wild and free, or at least a slacker, at heart.

I hate to pull a NFH, but since it's very slow today.

Suspect arrested in the "Donaldson Ranch" killings. It's the 14-year-old son of the ranch manager, who was a victim along with his wife and the boy's stepsister. That's some seriously weird shit.
