I did not see the awards, and I have to say I'm glad I missed the Santana/Banderas thing.

Not likely you have. His appeal is to middle aged women (even though he's like 25), because of his appearances on Oprah and Rosie O'Donnell, (which I don't watch). I think the NYT first called him "the voice." His popularity came during his stint with Ally McBeal, which I also didn't watch.
I think I saw him first on some late night show where there were hundreds of screaming women - he's got that thing where you can't believe that voice is coming out of a guy so geeky looking.

I really think she looks more feminine with short hair. She looks (though unbelievably hot, blah blah blah) a little like she's in drag here.
ETA though, that curve of the hip there? Jesus. I want to fuck her.

This is one of the best dresses. I love the combo of black and a bright color. Another sure win is platinum blonde hair, with a black lace dress. You just can't go wrong with black lace. Skin looks so pretty peaking from under the black lace.
As for Renee Zellwegger, she has never been pretty. She needs Blepharoplasty on her upper eyelids. And the scowls are terrible. But she ruined her image forever by sticking cotton balls in the side of her mouth (ala the King of Dead Rude Fats, Brando) to make her voice and mouth sound/look like a country hillbilly in Cold Mountain.
As for Halle, yeah perfect, but I wish she'd just saunter out in a long, fitted black lace dress with strappy heels and a black lace shawl. She'd bring the house down. Cause nobody is admiring her "asymetrical one shoulder has fabric/other one doesn't" dress. It just detracts from her perfect looks.

I am. I thought it was (literally) breathtaking. And I have high standards. She looked great. I stopped watching after her because I figured it would just be downhill from there (plus I was tired).

I agree, she is one of the few women on this planet who looks better with short hair.
I also agree that I want to fuck her.

I dunno. The shiny clinging fabric, viewed from the side, makes you picture her naked, astride someone. Very hot.
But I think she should cut her hair. Or have it not be straight/flat at least.

Renee Z's dress was good in the abstract (and it did look excellent on stage, if not on the carpet), but it was pulled so tight she had back fat. SHE had back fat. I'm shocked she didn't pass out. Did anyone else notice how hilariously mini she was standing next to the Stock Oscar Carrying Glamazon after presenting her award? The SOCG was about a foot taller than her, and looked like she outweighed RZ by 50 pounds, all of it curves. I have to admit I sort of like her better as a brunette, though.

1. I think that's exactly what Beyonce's outfit was meant to evoke. It's the iconic symbol of all things Phantom, so why not? I thought it was an interesting choice.
2. The impossibly tall model to whom you refer as SOCG is Rick Fox's sister. She's 6'5" and hot. I wonder if she's friends with Gabby Reece?

When you have to have the crap fleshy net across the back, it's time to stop going "backless." And I did NOT like the front of Hillary Swank's dress AT ALL. It made her breasts look droopy and she seemed to look even more skull-like than normal.
Are those her real breasts, or fake ones?

Fuck that. Let me repeat: fuck that.

If they were going to bring all the potential winners up on stage to save time, at least for some awards, why not do it for all of the ones that they thought didn't deserve to get the full walkup? Surely it takes no more time to tell the nominees 10 mins. before and assemble them on stage than it does to have them come down the aisle to the town meeting mic.

I actually think Halle looks better with long hair. Apologies to TM, but she fell off my list some years ago, but damn, she looked really pretty last night. She might have to go back on the list.
