Hmm. Since I use Kerastase products too, I thought this was worth checking out. From the L'Oreal site:

"Owing to the daily use of safety methods, of which reconstructed skin is the crowning glory, L’Oréal eliminated animal testing on finished products in 1989; as a result, L'Oréal became a pioneer in the development of such alternative methods."

While I imagine that "finished" can parse to permitting some bunny torture (and does this only apply to actual L'Oreal branded products?), it sounds like they are savvy about the unpopularity of these methods among their target (American) consumers.
