Convert or Die = Convert
This article made me kind of nauseous. Hopefully this guy will be kidnapped by "Islamofacists" and when he is faced with converting or death it will be interesting to see what his choice is. My guess is he won't even think about it.

correct. Teachers should have a professional ethic, i.e. the educational welfare of the children, which they put above their immediate personal considerations, while an individual does not have a professional ethic as a taxpayer. Of course, its a misnomer, perpetuated by the teacher's unions, to call teachers professionals.

Simple answer, teh difference is that Christian Conservatives worship the real G-d, the creator of all things, while the Islamics worship a fictional falsely idle demon conjured up by the warped psyche of an indisputably drunken pedophile.

Might point exactly.
But if you are reading the Looming Tower, the parallel must be eery.

Steyn makes sense. It is why in our lifetime many of the states of Europe will become Islamic republics and ultimately, like the great empires of Greece, Rome and the Brits, we are probably doomed. We are weak and not willing to sacrifice for the greater good or anything, good or bad. As Ty pointed out, we can't suck it up for education reform, do you think when the suicide bombers come calling we will be able to resist for long. Israel has faith on its side in combatting the radical Islamofacists. What do you think we have? Rule of law? Clinton proved that no one believes in that...

dissent. Personally I would rather die than convert, although given the fact that I am always strapped to the hilt with a couple of nines, the moment those dogs come calling is when the bullets will start flying.

Christian Conservatives believe in free markets and low taxes. They also don't believe in appeasement and being tough on criminals. Have never really understood how they square this with; 1) turn the other cheek 2)resist not evil 3) blessed are the meek, poor etc", 4) a rich man has the same chance of going to heaven as a camel going through the eye of a needle. However, I am not going to kick a gift horse in the mouth.

I agree with some of what he said, but courage and convictions doesn't mean you don't go along with a crazy man when he has a gun to your head. Your convictions don't do anyone any good when you are dead. In the end we will win this battle because we are right and they are wrong. Their philosophy is not compatible with a thriving properous democracy, and therefor they will never really be a threat. Only a thriving prosperous democracy can create the wealth and technology necessary to create a superpower. The only question is how miseable will we allow them to make us, but there is really no contest "in the clash of civilizations".
If they ever get to out of hand we will just take them off the map. The only real question is how much will we put up with. I hope we are willing to put up with a lot because I certainly don't want to see us resort to employing WMDs.

I'm not sure how you are contrasting Christian conservatives with Islamists. The movements seem to have grown over the same period.

Islamisists don't seem to enamoured with free market capitalism. When they take over, it is not very good for the GNP. Sudan, Iran, Taliban in Afghanistan etc. When Christian Conservatives get elected it is usually pretty good for the economy - i.e. Mexico, Guatemala etc.
Fundamentalism seems to be on the rise, but Islamic Fundamentalists are a lot more destructive to prosperity. That is the difference.
