Besides, I'm fucking Hank's and your wife. Life's never been better. and I don't have to worry about buying new pants every year.
I can't get my hands around aging. I fear a flip out Gary Busey period down the line. The monotony has me on the verge of tearing my hair out at times. I quite literally lived to do nothing but have a good time for so long that I am incapable of taking any satisfaction from anything other than that tooth clenching feeling you get after your fourth vodka, where Saturday night and you and a houseful of visiting fools has the night before you like a thunderhead. Without liftoff, what is there? I'm not sure I can handle the 40s thing. I'm not obsessing over it or anything... But people keep telling me how great my life should feel, and it just ain't there. Maybe golf is the ticket - its kept my old man acting 18 for the last 30 years.

I suspect there is a reason I'm a solo.

Why does every male at the age of 30 suddenly become a “golf guy”? I like it - its relaxing... But its one of those sports you can never master unless you have inherent skills. You can’t will yourself to be really good without a lot of natural talent, and if you play for more than 3 years, you realize this. Nevertheless, guys talk about how they’re changing their swings and taking lessons, etc... all day long. Its really annoying as hell. The only lesson a pro ever gave me that really made sense was to use my lead arm more than my support arm. That can convert a straight ball to a draw and add about 20 yards. But if you’re a slicer, you’re fucked, and most of the guys I hear talking about it are all fucking slicers. Its maddening. Just go play the fucking game and stop talking about it.
Golf, like bowling, is made much more enjoyable with a cocktail. Or 12.

People who take it seriously bore me to fucking tears. Have a beer, shank a drive, make fun of yourself and make sure you're playing with a group of guys who are willing to tell you what a terrible shot you just made and how much you suck.

Shamefully, I've watched few episodes of The Surreal Life with her on it. She is a terrible actress.
I think the show is gonna suffer forher loss. Twiggy is just a little too refined. What happened to the fruity guy with the Tina Fey glasses? Did he have an ego war with Tyra also?

Lost (duh)
World Series of Poker
Arrested Development (duh)
Threshhold (a good start)
Replace World Series of Poker with Laguna Beach and Threshhold with CSI and you have my list.

And during TAR last night, I admit I was amused each time they cheered "Go Black family!"

Wasn't that another Nigel? I can't remember - who's sitting there now? I thought he was good,w hich means he mostly agreed with me.

Twiggy seems weak. Janice would have been better if she hadn't tried so hard sometimes, but mostly I liked she'd just tell someone they looked terrible.

Golf gets less enjoyable as your skill increases. When you can shoot in the low 80s, the 70s seem like the Holy Grail. That is the madness of it.

I just walked away one day and never played seriously again. Things bore me like that. Ever get that? You know... you get really into something for a while, like you can't live without it, then... suddenly, one day you don't enjoy it anymore and you don't want to do it anymore? Why is that?

I do miss that. The charge of peeling the clothes off a new chick is simply untouchable on planet Earth - nothing gets near it.

ETA: But expending the effort to get there is something I don't miss one tiny bit. Thrill of the chase my ass... gimme the filthy lucre at the end of the trail.

You know, so far, life has gotten better as I've gotten older, so I'm not sweating it. I had a great time in college, but I much prefer to be solvent and have more control over my life.

My parents seem to be having a great time in their early/mid 60s, and the only time I remember them slowing down (just a little) was in the mid-70s when they had four kids under the age of five. I have a feeling that's not going to happen to you.
