Can any of us who love this board deny it has ran aground? The liberals who show with any frequency are limited to Taxwonk (who today had the breakthrough thought that Penske is sometimes not serious and just fucking with people) and Ty.

Certainly arguing with Taxwonk is only "fun" when one is fucking with him due to the dull normal issue. That leaves Ty.

In my entire life I have never met anyone who can be so didactic while trying to appear straight. The style discourages me (and i think Penske) from posting with anything approaching an attempt to respect the other side's opinion BECAUSE it is clear the other side does not respect our opinion.

So we have a board where Slave responds to Ty, and Ty thinks he is having some elevated discussion.

Poll: do any of you like this forum? (rhetorical)

I propose that Ty be replaced as moderator, and leave the board for a period of months. I believe the people who have quit posting here, either effectively or actually, will come back and this board will flourish. After 6 months perhaps Ty could come back w/o killing the board, provided he has learned that this is not Politics 201 Prof. Ty.

Downside: the only I can see would be that this bitter useless forum becomes even deader. What if Ted Williams's head defrosts- is that really harm?

If this is some sort of "Homage to Paigow" post, it's good, but it needs more typos

and as to the insurrection comment, I always liked Paigow but felt of the insurrection crap that she was fucking with good people who did not deserve it. I'm not doing that here. I'm not accusing Ty of having bad motive- I don't think he set out to ruin this forum- I just feel he has.

OTOH if this forum is sparkly fun for you all, ignore my thoughts. I would not ask for any change that is not volunteered.

I agree that the board sometimes has been a bit of a drag lately, but I decided that I was tired of you and Penske, so I decided to stop responding to the two of you. In the past, I've had good exchanges with both of you, especially off-line, but lately not so much. I could explain, but I don't think that would advance the ball.

In general, I like this place because I would prefer to shoot this shit with people who do not agree with me.

If other people have had enough of me, ask me to leave by a PM, or a PM to RT, and I will. If anyone thinks a different sort of moderation would appropriate, do the same.

Has it occurred to you that one of the biggest reasons the board isn't fun any more might be that you and Penske seem to spend all your time spouting the most obscene bullshit?

Do you think if you stopped being such a cunt, that people might come back?

Maybe people have left because it's no fun watching you and Penske trying your hardest to alienate everyone who you disagree with.

I would suggest that you have merely gotten yourself in the postition that you only see Ty's posts, no matter what anyone else says. I have posted a number of things Ty wouldn't agree with. Nevertheless, you keep lumping us together.

Hi!

As the inventor of the predecessor in interest to this board and the oldest old skool member here (and formerly OBE), as well as a frequent contributor to the DU and formerly a frequent contributor to the old forums (which got shut down) on www.Hillary.org, I believe that I am preeminently and uniquely qualified to speak to the issues at issue. Hand. Presented here tonight.

I think a lot of good points have been made, all of which I agree with and alternatively dissent from, except those which are just stupid, res ipsa etc et al. I will specifically disavow the Ted Williams imagery, as I think that is obscene and at best a red herring or a lemming or some such lower tier creature not even worthy of Thurgreed's palatte. That said, I also think that Wonk's invocation of an obscenity standard is offensive at best and worse, really offensive, especially in light of his first amendment troubles on this board, which I won't recite, but suffice to say, occured.

At this point I think we have two options:

1. Grind the board to a halt, and I have already PM'd RT about the possibilities for unilateral retroactive deletion; or

2. Agree to move forward with the former status quo and a hope for the children and the future.

Those said, in a nod towards more history as a consensus builder and gap bridger, I vote 2 and as such and in a move of unity and healing, have removed Ty, SexHarrassingBear, Blue Triangle, SS and Sidd from my ignore list.

The branch of peace is thrust forward....what will be interesting is if those who would give Arafat the benefit of the doubt will now extend the same to a fellow communitarian. And also Hank.

The world is watching......

The "fucking with" is offputting and annoying. I didn't participate back on, uh, the place that got acquired because I found it too annoying. When did we come over here?
