I would have expected a discussion of evacuee fashion at the very least, or, whether it is better to give comfortable clothes to evacuee friends or clothes to help them rebuild their lost wardrobes so they can find new jobs in Texas.

Actually, when I was a registered Republican, it was when I was living in a large rectangular state in the Mountain Time Zone.

On information and belief, fur doesn't taste all that good, even if you have fuel to cook with.

In the interests of humanity, the proper way to remove a bat is to use a tennis racket; one hit stuns the bat, who can then be put outside, where it will eat all your mosquitos (there is no accounting for taste). Something tells me you have a tennis racket around somewhere, perhaps behind the saddles and epees.
If you ask nicely, I will also tell you how to get squirrels out of your attic.

The squirrels are out of the attic (they were the bigass gross ones too -- red squirrels, the commie bastards of the squirrel kingdom). For the bats, however, we need to wait until winter time (I don't know why -- but that's what the bat man said.)
I will admit that I did not stay calm during the bat affair, and I would have wanted to spare the bat's life, but I didn't know what to do with it. I think bats are cute, actually (well, except for that rabies thing -- that's not so cute). I even put up a bat house (outside) for bats to come and roost in my yard.
But as you've made me feel really guilty, next time, I'll serve it some dinner and set up a bed for it.

At my house, in the discussions of the temporary adoptee we have discussed whether or not the child will have appropriate resort wear for our winter vacation. We decided probably not and better to buy the kid some stuff now (when summer clothes go on sale) than to wait until Dec/January, as resort wear is more expensive at that point.
Thoughts?

Under the pyramid scheme Paigow based upon Amway, you get "credit" for everyone you brought in. That gives you 7 bads, by my count.

Capital idea, old chum!
Of course, the clothes will be hopelessly out of fashion for 2006 . . .

Ah, the efforts made by the well-intented, yet ignorant, crowd. Anyone who has visited Louisiana, away from strip clubs at least, would know that the thermal weight a native wears would differ greatly from what someone in the North would find comfortable.
I remember driving to Padre over spring break one March and stopping at a truck stop somewhere in La. Us Michigan residents were wearing shorts and t-shirts, and were quite comfortable. the La. residents around us, however, were dressed in sweaters and jackets- most wearing the sweaters, with only a few having them tied around the shoulders.
Have you thought of any of this, and have you considered whether your charge would feel comfortable telling you the clothing isn't warm enough? Other than imagining your newly earned halo have you given any thought to this at all?
I wonder if you might be more helpful to the child if you wait and buy appropriate clothing at the vacation site. to be honest, I truly wonder if it might be best for you to simply donate money, and let the more culturally sensitive attend to the child.

If he doesn't get the child, he doesn't get the unpaid servant for his own children -- which would go a long way toward offsetting the costs for food and clothing. I really would think he's going to let the charity case wear hand-me-downs from the prince/princesses Penske, and I heard a rumor that they will be making a firm decision on the "whipping girl" role (given today's social mores) by midnight (Pacific) Monday.
